The Resistance was on Yavin 4. They had gathered a meager army, and built a small base.
Rey packed what few things she owned into a small bag. She had to leave. General Organa had sent her on a secret mission to go back to the first Jedi temple to train. She had asked Rey not to tell the others, so Rey kept her mission quiet. She had an X-Wing hidden in the trees several yards away. Now she slipped out of the base as quietly as she could.
But as she walked towards the trees outside of the base, Finn stepped out in front of her. "Finn, I have to go." She said.
"Not without saying goodbye." He said and gave her a hug.
Rey hugged him back. She was grateful to him for not asking her where she was going. "You're a great friend Finn, I will never forget you." She said and smiled at him.
He smiled back, then returned to the base.
Rey walked through the forest admiring the trees. It was far more beautiful than anything she had seen on Jakku.
Suddenly she heard footsteps ahead of her. She looked up to see Kylo Ren standing a few feet in front of her. "Ben." She said softly.
"Rey," he answered, taking a step towards her. He noticed her bag. "Are you running away?" He asked her.
"Yes," she answered. It was the truth, just not all of it. She turned to walk away.
"Please don't run away from me." He said and she stopped.
"I don't want to have to fight you, Ben." She whispered.
He stepped closer to her and pressed his forehead against hers. "Then stay with me." He whispered.
"I can't," she answered.
"Rey, I love you." He said.
"I love you too." She whispered.
He leaned closer to her and kissed her slowly and softly.
"Come with me," Rey whispered.
Ben grabbed her hands and held them. He looked into her eyes. "I will," he said. Then he kissed her again.
Just then, the first order army emerged from the trees.
Ben stepped away from Rey to face them. "Stop the attack!" He ordered.
The stormtroopers stopped, but Hux stepped forward. "No!" He yelled. "Ren has betrayed us."
The stormtroopers nodded, he did betray them.
"Attack!" Hux yelled, and the stormtroopers ran towards them.
Ben drew his lightsaber and ignited it. "Run Rey!" He said.
"I'm not leaving you!" She answered.
"You have to!" Ben replied. "You have to warn the Resistance."
Rey turned towards the base, but then stopped and looked at Ben.
"Rey, I love you!" He said. "Now, go!" Then he charged towards the stormtroopers.
Rey turned and ran back to the Resistance base as quickly as she could. She opened the door of the makeshift base. "The First Order is here!" She called. "They're about to attack."
"Is Kylo Ren with them?" Finn asked.
Rey's eyes grew sad. "Yes." She said. "He's holding them back so that I could warn you."
"Really?" Poe asked, surprised.
"Yes." She replied. "He sacrificed himself to save all of us."
"Then we can't let his sacrifice be made in vain." Said Poe. "We have to get ready."
Finn nodded. Then the small base was busy with everyone preparing for the upcoming attack.
Rey took out her lightsaber, and walked towards the door.
"Rey, where are you going?" Asked Finn.
"I'm going to go save Ben, if I can." She answered.
"Then I'll come with you." Finn answered.
"Me too." Said Rose.
Rey, Finn and Rose went out of the base with Poe and five other Resistance fighters fallowing behind.
But after they only taken a few steps, they were met by a large group of stormtroopers. Rey noticed that Ben had depleted their numbers, but many of them still remained. But the fact that they had made it to the Resistance base filled her with even more concern for Ben.
And then her greatest fears were confirmed as three stormtroopers stepped forward carrying a still figure. It was Ben.
"Ben!" Rey screamed. Her voice filled with pain and sorrow.
"This is all that is left of your love, scavenger scum." Said one of the stormtroopers as he and his two comrades dropped him on the ground.
Now Rey could see that he was covered in blood. And his blood stained the ground where he now laid.
"No!" Rey screamed. She ignited her lightsaber and charged towards the stormtroopers. But she didn't have to go far as the stormtroopers began charging towards the base.
Finn, Poe, Rose, and the other Resistance fighters opened fire on the approaching stormtroopers. The fighters inside the base began firing the small cannons that were positioned on the side of the base at the stormtroopers.
Rey swung her lightsaber fiercely at any stormtrooper who dared to get near her. But suddenly, she felt a pain in her stomach as a blast from one of the stormtroopers hit her. But she continued to fight.
After a few moments she felt another blast to her shoulder, and then to her chest. But she continued to fight.
After what seemed like forever, they defeated the last of the First Order army. Rey clutched the wound on her stomach and collapsed to her knees.
"Rey!" Said Finn, and he rushed over to her, fallowed by Poe and Rose.
As they came to Rey's side, they could see that she was in a lot of pain. Finn held Rey in his arms while Poe gripped her hand and Rose tried to apply pressure to her wounds.
"Rey, are you okay?" Finn asked.
"I'm alright, make sure that Ben is okay." She said. But they all knew that he wasn't, including Rey.
"I'll go check on him." Said Rose and she walked across the battlefield.
Rose went over to Ben and felt for a pulse but found none. "He's dead." She whispered, so that Rey wouldn't hear. But Rey didn't have to hear it, she had sensed his death the moment it happened. Tears poured down her face.
Finn and Poe saw that her breaths were growing more and more shallow. They knew that she was dying.
"Everything is going to be okay." Said Finn, trying to comfort her.
She shook her head. "My Love is gone." She whispered, tears pouring down her face.
"Ben?" Finn asked.
She nodded.
"We'll take you to him." Said Finn and he and Poe carefully carried her over to where Ben was laid.
They carefully laid her down next to him. Rey laid her head on his chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat. But she only heard silence. But she felt comfort just by being near him.
But suddenly her pain became worse. She searched for his hand to hold, but couldn't find it. Finn noticed her searching for his hand. He grabbed his hand and removed his glove. Then placed his hand in Rey's.
Rey squeezed his hand tightly. It was cold and lifeless, but it still brought her comfort. She smiled, then she closed her eyes.
Finn, Poe, and Rose hung their heads, Rey was gone.
