Cat blew her silver whistle to get everyone's attention. "All right people, most of you were here last year for our crushing defeat against the Timber Wolves. Well this year, that isn't going to happen."

Catherine was elected leader of the Eastwood Eagles Dance Team last year, and had failed to do anything but try her best. Ellie looked over her shoulder to see Ashley - the co-captain, smiling proudly.

Cat continued, "That isn't going to happen this year because we've got some talent here and we will win! "
The rest of the girls nodded and they were some cheers of agreement. Ellie could only spot a few unfamiliar faces out of the crowd. But there were a lot of old faces too.

Cat blew her whistle again and everyone split up into warm-up groups. Ellie partnered with some girl in her year called Rosabella.
The two sat in stradle and pulled each other forwards and backwards.

Rose was a talker, so Ellie mostly just switched her mouth to auto pilot for the occasional times she needed to reply to the mostly one-sided conversation. Cat then organised all of the new members to perform basic routines as the rest of the girls either watched or started discussing the choreography for them competition.

Cat was taking notes on everyone and whispering to Ash everything so often. Ellie sighed. It had only been a few days into school and yet everyone knew their place.

Ellie had stumbled through her classes. Pissing off just about everybody. Dance was the only thing she had left, Ellie was determined to win the finals. Nothing would distract her.

Then something happened.

Time seemed to slow down as Ellie looked across the gym.
There was a girl, one of the new ones, spinning and doing pirouettes. Sweat was dripping down her forehead and on her light skin as her black hair - much like Cats - spun with her.

Ellie was hypnotized.

Cathrine came up behind Ellie and startled her.
"That's Alexander Moon, she's in out year. She looks really good."
Ellie found herself nodding along. The girl had talent.

Ellie watched Alexandra until Cat blew her whistle.
"Alright girls I think we've seen enough." Then she needed to Ashely, who beamed and put her hands together.
"Congrats Y'all, welcomed to the team!"

Some of the girls squealed or hugged one another, while others nodded solumly, they already knew the responsibility of the Eagles dance team.

Cat put her arm around Ash's waist.
"Which means it's time to party! My house, 9pm tonight. Then we'll see who's really an Eagle." Then she walked off to the locker rooms, holding Ashely's hand.

Others started to leave the gym, except Alexandra and Ellie. They lock eyes for a moment, Alexandra's were ice blue. Then they both look away. And Elle felt the need to say something, but she walked away too.
