Charlene's POV
It has been a few days since Ryan died. I haven't left the house at all...I wonder what happens now? Before Ryan all I had was a crappy job (which I still have), disrespectful employees, and a rude boss. I have no one to look out for me.
Is this really better?
Ryan would be home about now...swearing, beating, drinking...
I sigh and walk towards the window. What is out there? Is there anyone that would want to be friends with me? I have no one. Family, all dead. Friends, lost all them back in college.
I decide to take a walk. I walk through the streets and into the park near my house. It's so weird. I haven't come to this park since it opened a few months back. The grand opening was broadcasted on all our stations. I live in a small town, so it wasn't surprising. This really is a nice place to relax though.
I take a seat at a bench nearby. I haven't spent the time to relax in so long. The last time I remember was when I was a kid. I would always coerce my parents into taking me to the big hill near our house. When sitting at the top you could see the whole town. Not only that but we had fields of flowers beyond the town and on the hill that make it a perfect picnic spot. But that wasn't even my favorite part. It was at night. The stars would glimmer with such iridescence. I was so fascinated when I was younger by them. That's why I wanted to be an astronomer. That was until the incident...
I shake my head and try to forget it. I look at my watch and realize it's been 20 minutes. How have I been here for so long? I get up and start heading back to my apartment, when I notice something. A golf course. I hadn't gone since I was a kid. It was my favorite hobby. My parents would take me all the time. I even still have my old golf clubs from way back then. That's it!
I ran back to my apartment, and searched for my clubs. I started with the living room and made my way to the rest of the living space.
Living room?
Nope.
Bedroom?
Nope.
Bathroom???
Nope.Where were they? I remember bringing them with me. I walked into my room and looked around. It was spotless, and I had already checked the closet. I walked towards my bathroom seeing if I had missed anything when my foot hit something. I looked down and saw a 7 iron. I followed where it went and remembered where I put them.
When I was moving in I knew I needed to bring my golf clubs, but I didn't have any space. My closet was full of clothes and I didn't want to leave them in other places in the apartment. So, I put them under my bed.
I hauled out my clubs from under my bed and proceeded to to drop them immediately after. They were covered in spider webs. I'm no fan of spiders so I grabbed a towel from in the bathroom and started reluctantly cleaning the clubs.
I finished 30 minutes later. I looked over my clubs. It had been almost 12 years since I had used them. Well, better now than never!
With my newly polished clubs, I left for the golf course. I got a round of 9 holes once there. I wonder how I'll do? It's been so long and these clubs are pretty short for me now. The person ahead of me was about 200 yards out, so it seemed I was good to go. I grabbed my driver and took a few swings. 'I missed this' I thought to myself. I took my stance and hit the ball.
It went flying.
I didn't think I still had the swing. I stood in awe of the shot until I saw where it was going to land. It was heading straight for the person that was ahead of me.
"FO..." I yelled.
The ball had already landed straight on their head. I grabbed my bag and ran towards the person. I threw my bag down when I was about 15 yards away.
"Are you okay?!?" I said to the person.
The person I had hit was a guy who looked to be in his 20s. He had black hair and pale white skin. He slowly sat up and looked around.
"Ughhh..." he groaned out.
I walked up to his side and crouched down. He was slowly opening his eyes and trying to get up. I waved my hand in front of his face. He seemed to notice me. He had green eyes.
"Umm...are you okay?" I awkwardly said looking away.
"Uh...yeah, 'm fine...was a nice drive though." He said.
"That's good, I thought I had hurt you. I'm so sorry about that and..." I stoped and blushed. "T-thanks...I didn't know I would hit that far...It's been over a decade since I've golfed, so I didn't think I would keep my swing, I didn't know I would hit that far..." I stuttered out.
He laughed. "Pretty good for not having golfed in a while."
I stood up and offered my hand to him. He took it and I pulled him up.
"Sorry, where are my manners. My names Thomas." He said as he held his hand out to me.
I took it and replied "Charlene." I break the handshake and start heading for my bag when I turn around. "Why is that the first thing you do. I just hit your head will a golf ball. Any other person would be yelling at me and probably trying to sue me for the damage I did to them."
He looks surprised. "Why would I react that way? It was an accident after all, you didn't know your strength. So no harm done." He shrugs and grabs his golf bag. He starts walking towards his ball when he turns around.
"Do you want to golf together?"
