"Hey are you home?"
Spencer smiled as her boyfriend poked her head round her bedroom door.
"I'm always in." She smiled throwing her arms around him.
He smiled back at her but groaned when he saw the massive amounts of paper and books on her desk.
"Another test?" He moaned.
"This is my last one for a while. I promise." She said, kissing his cheek.
"You said that last time Spence." Toby winged playfully. "I'm seriously considering burying all your books in your garden."
Bury. All. Your Books.
Bury. You.
"Choose one or all will suffer." The voice said again.
Spencer and the girls watched through their separate tinted windows as Mona/Alison was forced to choose the punishments for the girls. Emily had just been water-boarded and she, Aria and Hanna were still awaiting our punishments and the fear in Spencer's stomach was growing more and more.
"5, 4, 3, 2-"
The voice was cut off by Mona/Alison pushing a button. Spencer's cell immediately started filling with gas, indicating Mona/Alison had picked her. She screamed but her eyelids grew heavy as the gas took effect and she eventually collapsed to the floor.
Spencer awoke lying on something metal and immediately tried to sit up but found that she was strapped down. She looked around to find she was in some massive hole. The straps retracted back into the ground and Spencer jumped up, looking for an escape. The walls were too high and smooth for her to climb out. She was trapped.
"Hello?" She called out hoping friends would hear her and get her out.
Instead the speaker started playing.
"Ali dug herself out of a grave, can you?"
"Wait no-" Spencer was cut off by mountains of earth falling over her.
She screamed as more earth fell on top of her and scrambled to free herself. She was slowly climbing out of the massive hole A had placed her in but the earth just kept coming. She eventually reached the top and crawled out, coughing and spluttering out dirt, and collapsed onto the floor.
"Congratulations! Please make your way to your room to collect your surprise!" The speaker rang out.
Spencer rolled over and reluctantly got to her feet.
"I hate surprises." She whispered as she followed the lighted path back to her room.
"Spencer."
"Spencer? Spence?"
Spencer was snapped out of the dollhouse flashback by Toby's worried and concerned tone.
"Babe, what happened? You zoned out for a few minutes there." Toby wrapped his arms around his shaking girlfriend as she muttered a response.
"I'm fine Toby, really. I'm just a bit tired." She reassured him.
But he didn't believe her.
"It was from the dollhouse, wasn't it?"
She let out a shaky sigh before nodding then wrapping her arms around him.
"I'm so sorry baby, did I say something that triggered it?" He asked, kissing her head.
She let out a half strangled sob and nodded weakly.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
She hesitated before slowly shaking her head.
"It's ok baby, it's ok."
Toby remembered the condition Spencer was in once they found her and the girls. They'd only been gone for a month but they were all so weak and malnourished that they looked like they'd been missing for years. Toby still remembered the look of complete fear on Spencer's face when a hospital trolley went past her door.
Toby swiftly pulled Spencer onto the bed as she sobbed into his chest. Toby felt tears well in his eyes, knowing that he had lost a piece of his girlfriend when she was down in that hell-hole. And he'd never get that piece back. But he promised himself that day that he'd try to mend the rest of her. No matter the cost.
