The sun was creeping in through a crack in the curtains. The golden light shining on Aelin creating a calming wall of heat and security. She reached over to find Rowan, he wasn't lying down though. Slowly, the Queen of Terrasen eased open her ashryver eyes to find the King of Terrasen sitting up, frozen in place and staring down at her.

His eyes were so wide they seemed close to popping out and his jaw was dropped, exposing his sharp canines.

Rarely did anyone see Rowan Whitethorn like this. So Aelin decided it would probably never happen again and indulged in it.

"What's wrong Buzzard?" She asked sweetly, pressing two fingers to his jaw and shutting his mouth. Still he didn't move.

She just giggled. "I never knew you could be surprised!" She added - starting to see him becoming annoyed.

After a few more moments of just staring, Rowan shook himself back into reality. "How? What--?" He stuttered.

"Rowan Whitethorn, stuttering! I would never believe it!" Aelin threw herself back into hysterics.

Suddenly, Rowan started rolling up Aelin's sleeves and reached towards his shirt, that Aelin was wearing, and started pulling down at the neck. "Woah! Don't you think it is a bit early for that? Save it for tonight," she said with a wink.

"No, it's just..." He trailed off.

"I love you," the Queen of Terrasen grabbed her king and pulled him into a passionate kiss.

He kissed back but pulled away still staring at her collar. "Don't change the topic, princess," she just giggled as he reached under the covers and pulled her leg out. Intently, he scanned her ankle searching for something that wasn't there.

"Where...?" He started again, but trailed off as they heard Aedion's shouting from downstairs.

Since after the war, Aedion convinced everyone that he would learn how to cook properly. Especially after the time when Aelin, Rowan and Aedion were living in Rifthold and Aedion burnt all the food. Aelin was on board with the idea.

But she wasn't expecting this. Every morning Aedion would wake up and start preparing a new surprise dish; every morning he would run up and down the halls shouting for everyone to get up before the food got cold.

Nobody was accustomed to this yet and normally would ignore the Wolf of the North until it was a more reasonable time to get up. However, Aelin used this as her opportunity to end her plan no-one knew was created.

"Coming!" The Queen of Terrasen shouted down equally as loud.

"Wait! Aelin-- what?" Rowan, Rowan Whitethorn, the most powerful full-bred Fae male in Erilea was flustered. And Aelin was enjoying every minute of it.

"Come on you Buzzard! Get dressed! We don't want to keep Aedion waiting!" She shouted from the bathroom sweetly.

"But-" he started.

"I have a surprise for everyone at breakfast, you have already seen it but I will explain it infront of everyone. Now come on!"

Rowan obliged, eager to hear the explanation to what he just saw. Or what he didn't.
