Ch.10
I got up and crawled over Mike, very carefully, attempting not to wake him, and made my way to the kitchen. I made myself a bowl of noodles, and hurried and ate it, trying to get back to Mike as fast as possible. I didn’t feel safe here without him near me.
I heard the elevator beep and its doors opened again, I got chill bumps again. Mike’s dad came into the kitchen and came up to me. “Jasmine!” he sang and grabbed my arm. “I gotta show you something. I think I found a way to get rid of your wolf DNA.” He led me to the elevator. I didn’t have time to think as the doors opened and he rushed me to a table.
“Wait here a second, I’ll get the serum I’ve made, and I’ll put it in the test tube of werewolf DNA and it is supposed to get rid of the wolf part of it.” he said and ran over to a cabinet on the other side of the room. I looked at the tube of DNA and my skin crawled. If it worked, I was going to have to get that serum put in me. Ugh.
Oww! I felt a pinch in my leg and looked down and saw a tranquilizer fall to the ground. Mike’s dad had tricked me! I tried to run for the elevator but the room started to spin and I fell down and everything faded into black…
I woke up and my head throbbed, I remembered falling, but I must’ve hit my head. I realized I was in a cage. I sat up and looked around and saw Mike’s dad mixing chemicals and stuff at the chemistry station. I panicked and tried to break the cage. It didn’t work, of course. I felt tears prick at my eyes and threaten to fall. If I got out of that cage he was going to pay!
“You’ll only hurt yourself trying to get out.” Mike’s dad said and looked toward me, smiling as though he hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Why am I in a cage?” I asked, annoyed. I tried to sit upright, but the cage was too low, so I had to hunch over to avoid hitting my head again.
“Well, I want to see if I can give you wings. If my experiment works, then I’ll send my serum to other labs with mutants.” He smirked.
I felt my face getting hot with anger. “Mutants!” I yelled. “What about Mike? Your calling your own son a mutant?” I spat, acidity clear in my voice. Mike’s dad didn’t even look at me.
“Well, considering that Mike isn’t human, I don’t really consider him my son as much as an experiment. I just watch him try to live an everyday life. And you, well, you’re just an experiment for me to actually get to test on.” He chuckled and went to a door that led to his bedroom. “G’nite, hope you make it through tomorrow.” He laughed again and went in his room. I hoped Mike would come soon.
