     Jasmine’s P.O.V.

                                  Ch.12

Even though I was asleep, I still could imagine him splicing my DNA, putting all who-knows-what in me. I imagined how Mike would react when he saw what his dad did to me. I felt horrible, then I felt nothing. I knew this was because of the morphine in the tranquilizer. I finally relaxed…

I heard someone saying my name. This voice was so familiar, I didn’t like the voice though. I remembered hating it before I was put to sleep. “Jasmine, hurry wake up. I want to see how it worked.” Oh, yeah. I know who it is now. Dr. Whack job. Mike’s dad. I remembered why I was asleep. I felt him tapping my shoulder, trying to get me to wake up.

It took me a minute to find my eyes and open them, but when I did, I thought I was going to be blinded. I was on a stupid lab table, under bright lights. I raised up and looked around. “Ahh. Okay now try to move your shoulders, see if you can unfold your wings. Now don’t try to look you can’t see them yet, you will after you get them out from between your shoulder blades.” He motioned for me to get up.

I got up and glared at him, but felt pressure in my back. I stretched my shoulders like I was trying to pop my elbows and I felt air whoosh from behind me, and then I felt new muscles. I looked over my shoulder and saw beautiful grey wings with brown speckles. I almost smiled, I would have if I hadn’t remembered how I got them, against my will. “Now, I have altered your wolf DNA. You won’t be a werewolf except for one day a month, on a full moon. Ha-ha. And you won’t have wings when you’re a wolf. So, there you go.” Doc Crazy said.

I heard the elevator beep and saw Mike and Chad run in here. Mike stopped dead cold and stared at me. I felt all of the blood drain from my face and tears run down my face. Mike turned to his dad. “YOU! Kidnapped her and did this to her!” he yelled. His dad smiled.

“Yes I did. Quite impressive isn’t it?” he asked, gesturing to my wings. Mike punched him.

“And against her will.” He saw the cage. His face turned white. “You put her in a cage?” he asked quietly. I nodded.

His dad laughed. “Well, what does it matter you’re just a bunch of mutants, even your friend here.” He pointed at Chad. Mike’s face turned red now. He turned and pushed his dad against the wall.

“Leave. Go back to that stupid facility. NOW!” he shrieked. He started sobbing. “Go…” he let his dad go and regained control of himself. He wiped his eyes and came over to me.

He put his arm around my waist, and put his lips to my ear. “I’m so sorry, I broke my promise, but I’ll make another one. I’ll never ever let anyone hurt you… without consequences…” he said. He looked at his dad. “Leave,” he tossed a phone to his dad, who barely caught it. “Get your things packed.” He said.

He stroked my wings. “I’m sorry.” He said again. “I’ll help you learn to fly.” He took my hand and led me upstairs. As we passed by Chad he said. “Don’t forget about the roof.” Chad smiled and nodded. We went outside while Chad started fixing the roof.

Mike led me to the middle of the yard. “Okay, first of all.” He started, letting his wings out. “run and jump, then start flapping.” He said. “Watch.” He took off running and jumped into the air and started moving his wings up and down really fast, but once he got a few feet into the air, he started slowing down and climbed upwards and glided in the wind. I gotta say, he is very impressive, and hot. He glided back down and landed. “Your turn.” He nodded at me.

I took a look at him and started running as fast as I could and I jumped and I started flapping my wings like he did and I started getting higher and higher and I slowed down, and it became very easy, I thought it would be very tiring, but I just glided with the wind. It felt so great to be up in the air without some kind of parachute, without having to rely on something other than part of me to keep myself aloft. I slowly made my way back towards the ground.

As I neared the ground I saw Mike standing below me. “Put your wings back in. I’ll catch you.” He said. I did as he said and folded my wings back up and they disappeared into my back just like his does, and I fell, only a few feet, into his arms. “Fun isn’t it?” he asked. I smiled, nodded, and he kissed me.
