Chapter 2: the unexpected

It has been one whole month since Serena has moved to Jasper, Navada and she loved it, mostly because she made friends quicker than she'd expected.

The lunch bell soon rang through the school, quickly gathering up her notes and doodle book, she placed them in her binder before she headed to her locker which was right down the hall.

In a instant she packed everything up so she could go to her part time job she had after lunch and took out her doodle book along with her lunch.

"Hey Serena!" A voice called behind her.

Serena turned in the direction of the voice only to get glomped by one of her best friends, Miko Nakadai, who was the most awesomest girl she knew who could literally rock out and is the reason she now is somewhat a slash monkey addict, well not as much as Miko, but enough.

She laughed a bit as she gave her friend a hug back before they broke apart "you got any homework?" Miko asked with a small smile.

All Serena did was shake her head "got none, I'm all free," she said while locking up her locker and walking outside to the front of the school.

Miko jumped down some steps until they both sat down where they usually sat together at lunch "but I'm being let off to go to work." She added on while opening her lunch.

With a over drastic 'aw' of disappointment Miko flopped around, Serena have a chuckle and rolled her eyes "what about you, got any homework?" She asked while biting into a oatmeal cookie.

There was silence between them as Miko put a finger to her chin in thought while Serena continued to eat while watching her before Miko shrugged.

Serena scoffed "who can you not know if you have homework?" She said while looking at her friend somewhat in disbelief "I don't know cuz my teachers said nothing about homework,"

She raised a finger as she continued on "and I actually paid attention this time." She crossed her arms and smirked as Serena choked a bit on the sandwich she was just eating.

Guzzling some water she was able to clear her throat before she looked at Miko with wide eyes and a raised eyebrow "who are you and what have you done with Miko?" She exclaimed.

There was another silence before they both broke out in a laughing fit and leaned on each other for support "hey guys!" Someone yelled from behind them.

They stopped laughing and looked behind them to see Raf jogging down the steps before he stopped and sat one step behind them while taking out his lunch and laptop.

"Oh hey Raf, how's it going?" Serena said while Miko grabbed a handful of fish crackers before shoving them in her mouth when Serena looked back and earning a scowl from her.

Raf gave a light chuckle "I'm good," he replied while looking at his laptop before raising his gaze from the screen with a smile "plus I got a new remote control car today that I might try out later on after school."

Serena gave a nod "sweet, wish I could come with, but I gotta stay a little late at work but not to long though." She said as she through a fish cracker at Miko who ended up catching it in her mouth which made her hands raise in the air while she laughed in victory.

They all chatted for a bit and ate, mostly Miko snacking off of them cuz she forgot her lunch, but it all went well until Serena noticed that another one of her friends, Jack Darby, wasn't there with them.

She frowned "hey do you guys know where Jack is?" Miko burped a bit before she raised a finger "I think he has a all-day shift at work today." She spoke before she hiccuped.
