Sonic's POV

Yesterday night was amazing. I had done it twice before, but it had never felt so good as with Shadow. I'm glad this was different than last time. Because this time I wasn't drunk and so I would remember it, unlike our first time, which, no matter how hard I tried, I would never remember.

I looked at my left and saw Shadow still asleep next to me. He was lying on his side with his back facing me. He was curled up as good as he could with one arm wrapped around his abdomen. I smiled at the sight.

I leant over and placed a hand on his belly, receiving a kick as greeting.

"Heh, you're already awake in there." I muttered before sitting up, stretching my upper body and getting out of bed.

"Hmm? Sonic?" I heard Shadow mutter as he looked at me from over his shoulder with tired eyes.

"Did I wake you up?" I asked as I walked to his side of the bed to get a better look at him when I spoke. Shadow shook his head and let it rest on the pillow again, quickly falling asleep again. I smiled at him briefly before dressing up, so I could leave the bedroom and make my way down the stairs.

"Sonic! You're awake!" Tails called for me as soon as he watched me walk into the kitchen.

"Yeah, I am. Something wrong?" I asked as I easily noticed the slightly panicked look in his eyes.

"Eggman is wrecking the city again! He says it's revenge for stopping him last time!" He said. Eggman must really be doing a number on the city if it made Tails so worried.

I sighed. Going out to fight off Eggman meant leaving Shadow all on his own again. It didn't matter how well he can take care of himself, his condition still made him vulnerable. I didn't like leaving him alone now, but I had no other choice if Egghead decided that he was bored and tried wrecking the city.

"You can go ahead and start the Tornado. I'm going upstairs for a moment." I said and watched Tails run off to his workshop before I turned around and made my way up the stairs again.

When I walked into the bedroom again, Shadow was still in a deep sleep. If he wasn't pregnant I would've been concerned. Shadow had always been the one to wake up early in the morning. The fact that he slept so long could only be blamed on the exhaustion he often felt as he got further into his pregnancy.

It wouldn't be much longer, though. Just another two months and the baby will be here. Well, babies since I suspect we might be having more than one.

I once told Shadow about my suspicions, but he just shrugged it off, saying that that would be impossible. I don't think he actually believed that himself, though. And judging by the way he acted in the beginning of his pregnancy, I think it might be fear that made him deny the possibility. After all, as much as he was excited for his due date to come, let's not forget how reluctant he was to keep the kid to begin with.

The bed dipped underneath my weight as I took a seat on the side of the bed, my hand resting behind him as I looked down on him.

"Shadow?" I called his name, although, I don't think he will be able to hear me.

"Hmm?" Guess he wasn't so deep in his sleep after all.

"Eggman is wrecking the city again. Will you be okay by yourself?" I asked.

Shadow nodded before snuggling his muzzle against his pillow, as if trying to bury himself deeper in it for more comfort.

I shot him a smile before leaning down and kissing him lightly. I'm not sure if he heard anything what I had been trying to tell him, guess I'll leave a note before leaving to kick Egghead's butt again.
