It's morning and I'm sitting in the cafeteria drinking my coffee. When I woke up today, I brushed and took a shower then I was out the door with my training suit on, ready to start my day. But I can't start my day without a cup of coffee, so here I am sipping the bitter, dark, liquid. Yes, no cream, no sugar.
I'm sitting at my usual table hoping that Alaxandria would come before I leave. Just on cue, she falls on the seat in front of me, sporting a weird look on her face. She wasn't alone, my brother says beside me, startling me. I quickly cover my surprise with a stank look on my face.
"What do you want?" I say finishing my coffee, no longer in the mood to savor it.
Alaxandria sneaks a glance at Travis. The simple act aggravated me now that I know there's more to it.
"Come with me, now." He demands. I scoff.
"No." I retort, stubborn as a bull.
He flinched back. "What is your problem?" He fumes. Alaxandria stays quiet and serves herself some bacon. When I don't answer he grabs my arm and attempts to drag me with him. I tug my arm back forcefully.
"Let go," I yell, loud enough to draw attention from other tables. Despite the new set of eyes staring at us, I stand my ground. "I am not going anywhere with you."
When he sees that I'm not budging, he sighs, scratching his beard. I temporarily felt awful. Despite his good looks, Travis looked so tired that a stranger wouldn't be able to tell that he's still in his 20s. He's been taking more than he can handle lately, and he still has me to deal with. Still, that doesn't erase the fact that he's been keeping something from me for who knows how long.
"Denver needs you." At those words, all the fight leaves my body. Dread starts to build up inside of me. I have a habit of always imagining the worst case scenarios.
"What's going on?" I whisper to him and Alaxandria but for some reason, she kept her head down. Does she know that I found out about them?
"Follow me," Travis instructs drily and I had no choice but to do so.
I'm sitting in a chair in a dimly lit room. I stare consistently at the two-way mirror. On the other side, the reasons why I was rushed down here chats among themselves inside the interrogation room.
"Sit down, son." Denver was sitting right beside me and his eyes were trained on my brother who was up and pacing around for a long time now. Travis skid to a stop and also take a seat beside me.
He probably thinks that we're nuts. The fact that we're not freaking out like he was can't be healthy.
"What do we do?" Travis mutters and shudders at the sight of four individuals.
"I think we should talk to them," I say. "You know like normal people." It's pretty obvious.
"Yeah, but they aren't normal," Denver answers much to my disapproval, looking at our...guests through the glass wall. They're all sitting down and talking intensely, probably planning on how they're going to get themselves out this situation. They're not.
"I'll go." I scoff. A girl has to do everything these days. Despite my brother's protest, I walk straight up to the metal door and open it. They all stop talking as soon as I walk in. I wince, hoping I could just walk right back out. The confidence I had disappeared when I close the door behind me. But it's too late, I need to get this over with.
" H-hi." I stutter, ransacking my brain for words. The four unblinking pair of eyes weren't helping either. "I'm Iris." I try again but no one answer. I gulp and fidget with my hands. Oh gawsh . The air reeked with tension and discomfort.
"Well, this is awkward."
"Excuse me?" I ask, dumbfounded. I inwardly slap myself. You're doing amazing, sweetie.
The guy that said that looks at me as if I'm stupid. "I said this is awkward." He states it almost as like a question.
Just like everyone in this room, he looks like he's my age. He had pretty olive skin and very low cut hair and equally dark brown eyes. He was wearing dark blue jeans, tan timberlands and a white wife beater with red smear all over it.
Please don't be blood.
Both of his arms were covered with excessively colorful tattoos. His nose was pierced so was his ears. Overall he looked gorgeous but dangerous. I mean all of them looked dangerous. Except for the girl that was with them. She had a gentle and innocent look, but I doubt she was innocent considering the crowd she runs with.
The dark-haired girl rolls her eyes and stands up to introduce herself. She's even more stunning. Her very long and silky hair was pulled up into a tight ponytail. She looked very mature, strong eyebrows, and kind brown eyes, long fine eyelashes to compliment them. Her feminine looks were topped with pink pouty lips."I'm Atalina." She offers me her hand which I shake. She then points to a guy standing in the corner of the room. "This is my brother, Nikolai."I almost gasped. Believe it or not, I've never seen real life twins before. I smile at him. He was the exact replica of her but he looked younger. He acknowledges me with a nod. "And then this idiot here," she slaps the first guy's shoulder, "his name is Zeke."
What's his real name? I shouldn't ask.
"And this is Phoenix." She smiles at me and claps her hands. "Phoenix, say hi."
I was so focused on the others that I didn't notice the one sitting against the back wall. He slowly gets up. He was so tall that I had to crane my neck to look at him as he approached me. As soon as he stepped out of the shadows though. My breath was taken away. He was beautiful. Gawd. He was dangerously beautiful. He was all dark, black leather jacket, black army boots and there was a necklace hanging around his neck with a black crucifix on it. However, his attire contradicted how light his blond hair was.
Without realizing it I step closer to him he walks towards me. From where I was standing, I could tell his eyes were blue, piercing blue. His face was flawless. What skin products does he use?
I was completely frozen. I had forgotten that Denver and Travis were in the other room, staring in.
This guy was oozing sexiness, the way he looked, the way he walked with so much stealth like a predator circling its prey. I stand my ground and allow him to come so close that our feet almost touch.
He stares down at me intently. I put my chin up, trying to look brave. But by the way, he was staring at me, I bet he saw right through me. His gaze followed the outline of my face almost intimately. Everywhere his eyes touched, I felt it. My breath catches when his face moves dangerously close to mine. I could feel his breath on my temple. What the hell is he doing?"Where the fuck is my brother?" He growls.
Rude much.
