Kiss in the Rain

Roger's car pulled up to the curb, as he waved in the drivers seat. The boys and their girlfriends were all going to dinner to celebrate the ending of the Sheer Heart Attack tour. I helped Lottie with Costumes again, and Izzy was Paul's assistant. John and Lottie grew so much closer, as did Izzy and Brian, but that was expected. Mary and Freddie were doing okay, there seemed to be something lingering between the two of them, but Rog and I couldn't put our finger on it.

Roger smiled widely, as I opened the passenger door, holding my coat over my head protecting my styled hair from the pelting rain. I pulled down the mirror in the visor and checked that my makeup and hair was still intact.

"Beautiful, as always." Roger said, placing his free hand on my thigh.

"Oh why thank you, Mr. Taylor." I smiled back.

He turned to face the road once more, and pulled onto the highway for a couple of miles.
"Hey Y/N, I've been meaning to talk to you," Roger said through his glasses.

"What is it, Roger? Is everything okay?" I grew nervous, asking to talk is rarely good in my experience.

"We've been so busy this whole time we've been dating. It's been over a year, Y/N. All we ever do is go straight to the studio, to touring, and any free time we have I'm always tired, and want to stay at the apartment. You've done nothing but support me through it all, and I'm selfish- letting you put your dreams on hold for mine."

"Stop right there Rog, I would not have my life any other way than it is right now. I'm still going to school, just taking less of a course load. You are part of my life now, and really it's not my 'story' anymore. It's ours," I squeezed Roger's hand, and kissed his palm.

We pulled into the parking lot of the extravagant restaurant, alongside John's car.

"One more thing, Y/N. I was going to wait until tonight to give you this, but I feel like now is a good time," he reached inside his blazer pocket, and pulled out an envelope.

I unfolded it and pulled out what looked like a reservation from the mail, "Roger, why are we going to Brighton?"

"We need to get away. Just me and you, love. There hasn't been enough of that. I love you so much, Y/N," he kissed my forehead and got out of the car. He opened my car door, and I squeezed him so tightly into a hug, I was so excited. We both braved ourselves for the different outcomes of this dinner. It will either go great or one of the boys is going to get way too drunk, then a fight amongst them will breakout. They'll probably start talking to each other again five minutes later.

"Hi love, it's about time you two showed up!" John welcomed us, patting the empty chair next to him for me to sit.
"Oh shut up, it's nice to see you too," I said amusingly. I took the empty seat, and looked around to see where Roger went. In the corner of the room, away from the tables stood Freddie and Roger, speaking to a younger woman with shoulder length raven hair. She was beautiful, dressed to the nines. Brian reached over and gripped my hand, "don't worry Y/N, they're friends from dental school. Her name is Lillie."
I nodded, "thanks Bri, but I am not worried!" Which was true. After the conversation we just had, and even before that, I trust him. The waiter made his way over to me and I ordered Roger and I's food and drinks.

"Hey Mary, how are things going with you and Fred?" I leaned over toward her.
"Honestly, Y/N. I am unsure. Something is off about him, something he isn't telling me. But between you and I, he asked me to marry him. To never take off this ring," Mary held up her left hand with a weak smile.
"Oh my gosh, Mary! That's wonderful. No wonder you've been keeping your hands from view," I joked.
John and Brian quickly realized what was happening, and gave Mary a tight hug, "looks like we have something else to celebrate!"
Roger and Freddie had joined us back at the table and everyone pounced on him, patting him on the back, and hugging him.
"Guess Mary darling can't keep a secret, huh?" Freddie smiled widely.

Roger held his blazer over my head as we darted out of the doors of the restaurant and to his car. We ran giggling, until we got to the passenger side. I turned to face him, and planted a kiss onto his lips, gripping his hair. He lowered his blazer and let the rain pour onto us. I broke away, blushing, just standing there staring into his beautiful green eyes. I placed my hand to his cheek, and wiped the raindrops from his face, "I love you, Roger Meddows Taylor. And only you. It will always be you."
He placed one more kiss to my cheek, "and my love, it will always be be you."
He opened the car door, and placed his blazer over my shoulder. My hair was soaked, and my silk dress rested damp to my skin.
He turned the key to start the car, and sat there for a moment.
I turned to him with a cheeky smile, "Roger, darling. I'm craving a milkshake from the diner, quite badly actually."
"Doesn't sound too bad," he hummed.

I crawled into the booth, and looked at the clock on the wall, "2 AM, blimey we have lost track of time."
"Just order your milkshake darling, don't worry about the time. I'm just glad you're having a good night."

Whitney came over and brought me a strawberry milkshake, "on the house!"
