I could tell that Deaky was disappointed in me; not angry, just upset that I didn't listen to him. He just doesn't want to see me get hurt. He has been there to pick up the pieces way too many times, especially after my last bad break up. I know I should have listened to him, but there is something so mesmerizing about Roger Taylor. The way he looks at you like you're the only girl in the world, or the tone of his voice when he is giving you his undivided attention.
I huffed, as I rolled over into my pillow, trying to snap out of my thoughts. I need some sleep, after all it has been a long night. Tomorrow morning, Deaky has to be at the studio to start working on an album, and asked me to stop by around lunch time. I will be done with classes by that time, so I can swing it.
**
My eyes fluttered open, as the alarm went off. Disheveled, I rolled out of bed and walked to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. There was Deaky, sitting at the kitchen table, scribbling down on a notepad, "Morning, Y/N.. Are you alright? You look... sick."
"Thanks for the compliment dicky, I didn't sleep well," I retorted. He hates when I call him Dicky, but he deserves it from time to time. "You don't look so great either," I added. Although I knew I was lying, he was bright eyed and didn't look like he had just performed a show the night before. He already had a mug placed on the counter for me, and a batch of coffee brewing.
"So will I see you at the studio today?" John asked.
"Wouldn't miss it, Deaky. What're you writing down?"
"Song Ideas.. Brian and Roger want to expand the music that they already have, and Freddie and I want to bring a new flare. I think Fred even has an idea for a new band name. He thinks Smile is extremely boring and unoriginal," John rambled.
"Can't say that I disagree with him, you're right. I really like Freddie! I love his style."
John grabbed the mug from beside me, and poured the coffee for me. I took a sip and returned to my bedroom. I couldn't shake the thoughts from what happened last night with Roger, even though he probably wasn't thinking about it at all. I was just another tally to his checklist.
I looked into the bathroom mirror, as the water in the shower ran hot. I forgot to take my makeup off last night, my skin was probably screaming. The mascara dried under my eyes, and my hair was knotted up pretty bad.
After I showered, let my hair dry, and did a natural makeup look, I decided on a fringe jacket, a mini skirt, and some converse. I picked up my backpack and headed for the door. Deaky still sat at the kitchen table.
"Hey, aren't you going to be late to the studio? It's already 8:15!" I hollered, as I walked out the door.
"No, I am alright Y/N. Have a good class!"
**
I headed up the concrete stairs to the studio, and into the corridor looking for the guys. I finally found them, and headed inside. Two girls sat on the couch watching the guys rehearse.
"Hey, I'm Y/N. And you guys are?" I broke the silence.
"Mary, Mary Austin! Pleased to meet you."
"I'm Cheryl. Isn't Roger adorable?" Cheryl asked.
I just awkwardly smiled, and nodded. I was taken back by what she said. I then peaked over at Roger sitting behind his drum kit. He looked over at me, surprised to see me leaning up against the arm of the couch. He smiled weakly, then looked at Cheryl, then me, and then down into his lap.
"So... Cheryl, how do you know the band?"
"Well, um.. I am a groupie I guess you could say, but mostly I am around for Roger," she said as she crossed her arms. I couldn't believe she just admitted that to herself.
The boys came out of the studio, indicating that it was lunch time. Roger came over to Cheryl, "Hey Krystal--"
"It's Cheryl!"
"Oh that's right. I am going to call you a cab, can't do lunch today." He grabbed her hand and led her outside.
Wow, what just happened, I thought to myself. John and Brian walked over to Mary and I as we still sat on the couch, and laughed about what had just happened. "See Y/N, I told you about Roger!" Deaky chuckled.
"Told her what?" a voice from behind us said. Roger was leaning in the doorway, tightening his jaw, obviously bothered by the comment. I couldn't help but look at Roger, his red leather jacket and voluminous blonde hair was perfect.
"Darlings, what is going on in here? You can cut the tension with a knife!" Freddie said, as he was last to come out of the booth. "Actually, don't answer that. If you'll excuse us, Mary and I have to be leaving for lunch now," he then added.
Roger pulled his sunglasses up, and walked over to me, "Y/N, I had no idea you were going to be here today. What did Cheryl say to you?"
"Don't worry Roger, not much. She spared me the details," I said as I played with the distressed denim on my skirt.
Roger sat down beside me and placed his hand on my thigh, "No, it's not like that. Do you want to head out for some lunch with me, I'd really like to talk you," he looked down at his feet, almost as if he was preparing himself for rejection. I looked over at Deaky, who was visibly uncomfortable, but I didn't want to say no. I wanted to get to know Roger, even if it was just as friends. I nudged Roger's hand off of my thigh and stood up. "Sure, Roger. But just as friends!" I said looking over at John. I was only lying to myself, though.
Roger stood up and smiled, "S'alright love, we should get going then." I followed him through the door and out of the studio. "Love, why do you have to come into the studio in a mini skirt and a low cut top, it's like you knew you were coming to see me," he winked.
"Rog, you can keep telling yourself that," I giggled. "Like what you see?" I asked, being a little flirty never hurt anyone. He opened the door for me, and just smiled, "Is that even a question?"
**Authors Note**
This chapter might be a little bit boring, and I'm sorry about that.. It's just a filler to help keep the story moving. I am going to try to update more this weekend.. Not sure when!
