The air in your cot was stuffy and warm; the flap door was buttoned closed. With slight movment, you began to sit up but fell back down to the stabbing pain in your shoulder. Letting out a hiss of hair you grabbed onto your shoulder blade and held it, falling back into the bed.
Your mind was foggy; what had happened was just filling your mind.
Elk, rabbits, deer, wolf, attacked, blood, carcass, camp... You replayed these words in your mind for a while before mustering up enough strength to sit up, hand still on shoulder clamping it tight.
"'Y/N?'" You heard your name called from outside your tent.
"Arthur?" You asked, recognizing the accent.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Yeah" Your voice was hoarse and trailed off near the end.
With a few pingings of the buttons of your tent, the large man came in, shut the buttons behind him and stood facing you.
"You look like shit" He chuckled as his fair blue-greenish eyes softened at the sight of you.
"Yeah, well, getting eaten by wolves will do that to ya- I mean you can ask John" You laughed harshly before stopping due to the irritating pain on your right shoulder.
"What in gods name were you doing in the Grizzlies by yourself?" He eventually asked.
Looking up at him you could read the anger and concern painted across his face.
"By yourself? In the Grizzlies?!" His voice was higher in his lightened anger.
"You were asleep! I can hunt by myself ya know!" You defended yourself in a cocky tone.
"You should've woken me!"
"Arthur!" You yelled back at him feeling upset with his un-needed anger.
Just as you did Arthurs' head dropped and he let out a sigh.
"Sorry" He let out sincerely.
"what's going on with you lately?" You asked still a little pissed off.
"Nothin-" He replied turning his head away looking outside through the tent slit.
"Don't shut me off" You interrupted him with a stern voice. "Sit" You demanded.
With hesitation, he sat at the end of the bed. He looked exhausted, sad, and beaten down by what he always bottled in. You wanted to wrap your arms around him in a hug you always shared with him but the pain kept you isolated to yourself.
"Well? What's goin' on?" You asked again trying to meet his eyes but his head was dropped.
"I-I don't know.. I've been killing people.. innocent people.. for no reason" He explained gently moving his hands. "I just get so angry lately"
"Can you move closer?" You asked.
"Why?" His voice turned defensive.
"So I can hug you, you idiot" Your voice gave a little chuckle but it was still stern.
Gently shuffling up the bed towards you, a small smile on his face. You did your best to comfort him, putting your good hand on his while leaning your head against his broad shoulder.
"I-I'm sorry" He apologized.
"There's no need to apologized, Arthur" You comforted him.
You both sat in silence for a while before you thought for a moment.
"How long was I out?" You asked frowning.
"Few days... Dutch thought we were gon' lose you" He explained. "He was quite worried"
You smiled at the thought of Dutch filled your mind, maybe he still did care.
"You should get more rest, it's really late" Arthur said moving your hand off of his.
"yeah... I'm sure I'll be up and out of this cot tomorrow" You moved back slowly.
Arthur waved at you then left your tent closing it behind you. You heard him talking to Miss. Grimshaw who was walking by at the time.
Out like a light, you kept having nightmares and dreams of what had happened. Which was odd because you weren't very scared of what had happened with you and the wolf.
