John's POV

It has been nearly 30 minutes. He still wasn't here. I tapped my fingers in the table impatiently. Our waiter came back over.

"Sir, are you sure you don't want to order?" She asked me.

"I'm sure. Give him 5 more minutes." I responded. She nodded and left. The people surrounding my table were starting to understand what was going on, and began to give me pitiful looks. I then realized that he wouldn't be coming. I has gotten stood up.

"Thanks a lot Kinloch." I mumbled under my breath. Suddenly, someone plopped in the seat in front me. He instantly grabbed my hand which was resting on the table. Then he spoke, his voice flowing thick like honey, but still rough. I blushed.

"Hey babe, sorry I'm so late. Traffic was a bitch." He said overly loud, but not enough to arise suspicion. He locked his chocolate brown eyes with my green ones. Then he winked and leaned closer. "The names Alexander. Alexander Hamilton. I'm here to save you from the embarrassment of being stood up. Just roll with it. And might I just add, whoever stood you up was an idiot. You're stunning." He said, leaning back and winking. I blushed even harder and brushed a curl behind my ear.

"Thank you, I guess. I'm John. John Laurens." I said, smiling as the waiter returned with two menus. "Thank you." I thanked her as she handed them to us.

"What can I get you boys to drink?" She asked us.

"I'll have a Coke" Alex said.

"And I'll have a water with lemon."

She nodded, jotting the drinks down, and left once again. I turned to Alexander.

"So, Alexander-" I started. He cut me off.

"Please, just Alex is fine. No formalities. We're on a date, remember Peaches?" He said, winking at me again. I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Ok, fine. Alex, are you going to college? If so, what for?" I asked. I mean, I guess I better get to know my 'date.'

"Well," he replied. " I'm currently going to Kings college for a law degree. It's actually pretty fun, but may I just say, my debate 'partner,' Thomas Jefferson? He's a DICK!"

I looked at him. "Wait, I go to Kings! I'm majoring in marine biology!"

He had looked away for a split second to see where the waiter was, but his head turned towards me so fast his short, brown ponytail smacked him in the cheek. I giggled slightly.

"That's... So cool! I can't believe I've never seen you before! Who's your roommate? Maybe I know them?" He asked.

"Oh, um. My roommate's Lafayette. A French transfer student, but he's actually really cool." I paused as Alex looked at me. "Uh, Lex? You ok?"

"Dude. I know Laf. How the hell have I not met you before?!" He breathed out. Right as I was going to answer that I didn't know, our drinks came, and we ordered the rest of our food.

We spent the rest of an hour and a half talking about our lives, and realized that we both have a lot in common. It may have been quick, but I felt like I was falling for the brown eyed, brown haired, Caribbean immigrant. And it may have been stupid, but I felt like he might have been falling for me too.

I guess I had been right, as when we left, he did something I will never forget.

"Hey, John?" Alex asked as we were walking out the door. I turned towards him.

"Yeah Alex? You ok?"

"I'm fine, but I was wondering... Would you be willing to  go on another date with me? A real one this time." He's asked. I could tell he was nervous about asking me. I nodded.

"Of course I will! Thank you for everything Lexi! Can I call you that?"

He laughed. "You can call me anything you like peaches." He smiled down at me. Then he did it.

He kissed me.

It sounds stupid, I know. But it was the best damn kiss I've ever had. Except for that long one after that, of course.
