A/N: If you don't already know who Percy Jackson is, he is the Greek demigod son of Poseidon. He's saved the world... um, a lot of times, fought in two wars, and the amount of times he's almost died is close to infinity, probably.

Perseus Jackson was having a very great day, thank you very much, until he died.

Yes, a quite fitting way to start this story.

You see, Percy Jackson was taking the train home during a break from college in New Rome. Annabeth and he had parted ways a little earlier, to see her father and stepmother. Of course, there were many transfers and such, and in one transfer, he noticed a small girl, no older than five years old, wandering the tracks. Now, he could have just shouted to the girl to come back. He could have found her guardian, alerted the authorities, or something. But this situation simply could not allow it, for as Jackson here finally saw the girl, it was too late. The tracks began to vibrate with the girls' inevitable doom.
Unfortunately for him, his mind did not see it that way. And as the hero ran, determined to not leave this world without saving that small girl, his mind failed to process the glint of malice in her eyes. He pushed the girl out of the way in the penultimate time of nick — and as the train pulled away, it was clear for all to see. Perseus Jackson's good day had come to an abrupt end.
