A/N: King Simon is a character from a musical I wrote, called "The Runaway Prince". He dies after a few scenes, because that makes the runaway prince's return all the more meaningful. The actual thing is like a comedy, but because of the topic of this story, it seems a bit more dark.

King Simon was used to betrayal, death, and tragedy. However, he hadn't expected to experience it all in one short week.
It all began with his son — his subjects would call the prince's very existence a tragedy, but he still loved him with all his heart. Even with the peasants' constant public disapproval of the prince, he didn't realize it would affect him enough to feel the need to run away. He sent out a town crier to all the surrounding kingdoms, like Harmonia, Illae, Brenhinol, Dibirti, Chrintachlyd, and even the tiny kingdom of Waredigaeth!
Next came the betrayal — as he readied himself for sleep, he heard a muffled shout from outside his chambers. Concerned, he yelled "Who goes there?" The answer came in the form of a man stepping through the door. As he looked closer, he recognized him. He certainly hadn't ever expected this man to betray him. He'd always been one of the most loyal men he knew, a close friend, even. But with his manic smile and hand on the hilt of his sword, he knew there was no mistaking it, he was here to kill him. "Why, Drew?" He whispered to his former friend. He didn't answer.
Last came the death, a sword to the gut. He never knew why he was killed, and neither did anyone else.
