"It's... it's called what?" I barely gasped out, the pain still surging through my body like fire.
"Hepatocellular Carcinoma."
Tweek put his hand on mine to calm me, and he spoke for me. "What exactly is that, doctor?"
"Well to keep it short, it's the most common form of liver cancer. We found multiple large tumors but they haven't spread any further than the liver. That means we classify that as Stage 3A."
I groaned and caught my face. "I'm still trying to get over the fact that you said that I have cancer."
"I'm afraid there's no way around that." The doctor sat back down on his stool and crossed his legs. "It's extremely rare for someone your age to even develop it, except for one thing. You have years and years worth of liver damage, and it is a wonder how you don't have more than just this going on."
"Well, what do I do? I can't afford treatments at this point."
This time, Stan stepped forward. "Don't worry about that right now."
"Stan, you both have already done enough for me."
Stan shook his head. "As I said before, you will pay me back in time."
I didn't argue. "Thank you."
The doctor turned to his computer. "The Oncologist in the hospital may be free. I'll see if she can come down here for a moment."
Tweak squeezed my hand. "Thank you, doctor."
The doctor nodded as he left the room, leaving me to contemplate what just happened. I sat up and rested my face in my hands. "It's just one thing after the next, isn't it?"
Stan rested his hand on my shoulder. "You've got shit luck."
Tweak looked at Stan. "Please don't say things like that, you're not making him feel any better about it."
"He's right, Tweek. My life is a disaster." I rubbed my eyes. "I try to make a step in a better direction and suddenly I have liver cancer, out of nowhere."
There was suddenly a knock on the open door as a woman walked in. "Oh, son of a bitch." She said.
It took me a minute to recognize her. "Oh fuck. Sadie."
She groaned as she threw her dark brown hair up in a tail. I remember the little high school version of this girl. Chin length hair, tiny little body, and a terrible sense of fashion. Now, she had shoulder-length hair, aggressive eyes, and a slightly thicker body. Still looked pretty hot to me.
Stan held his head. "Let me guess, Sadie. You're the only Oncologist in South Park, aren't you?"
"Unfortunately for the both of you, yes. Next Oncologist near here is three hours away. Don't call me Sadie either, it's Dr. Braxton." She said as she stepped over to the table to examine me. She pulled down the blanket and seemingly took quite a lot of joy from poking at my painful, swollen abdomen. "So this is the first time you've noticed this?"
I cringed and groaned as she poked at it. "Yeah. How I got this cancer is probably pretty self-explanatory."
"Your excessive drinking and drug abuse? Yeah, I know all too well and needless to say, you deserve the mess you're in."
