Chapter Four

Alex avoided me and Derek for about two weeks now. I was feeling strange, something I had never felt before. The more time I spent with Derek the more I found something I loved about him. I told mom and dad all about him in a letter and they had expressed their concern but joy for me.

Every time I saw Derek my heart skipped a beat and I tried my hardest not to get lost in his perfect smile.

I was currently placing my things in my desk when I looked out the window. It was a full moon tonight and Derek would be locked downstairs with the other wolves in a few hours. I hurried my drawer shut so that I could see him off. I hurried my door shut and raced down to the boys corridors.

I came to Derek’s door and began knocking. Max opened and smirked at me. “Finally! He leaves in twenty minutes…”

“I thought he went down at 9.”

“No, they changed it to 8.” Derek muttered with a grumpy look.

“Well crap. Had I known I would have been here sooner…”

Derek looked at me and then to Max. “Max. Stay in here till they come to get me…because if you leave…”

“I know I know…you lose control.” Max stated broadly. “We have been through this a million times…”

I looked at Derek questionably. “What does that mean?”

“This is the first year I have gone through a full moon with my mate….I will have urges and I don’t know how well I can control them…”

I blushed deep red. “Oh…I see.”

He smirked and kissed my forehead. “Even that is painful…”

He perked his head and looked at me. “Hide in the closet…they are coming.”

“Shit…Good luck?” I said.

He chuckled and kissed my lips this time and I hurried into the closet. I heard Max lean against it and the someone knock on the door.

I heard talking and then the door closed. Max opened the door and looked at me. “Ok, they are gone…”

I came out and bid my good night to Max and headed back to my room.

Someone was shaking me awake. I looked up at Steph. She looked upset. “What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Alex is an idiot! He is going down to face Derek for you to be his mate…We have to stop him because no matter how much of a jerk he is…Derek in full blown wolf form will kill him…”

“Ah fuck…” I said and yanked the blankets off.

I held tightly to Steph as she raced through the halls trying to find the guys. I got a glimpse of something outside. “Steph!” I whispered loudly. “Outside!”

In two seconds we were outside. “Shit, they have already started fighting!”

“How can you tell?”

“I smell blood…both of them are hurt.”

We came at them and Steph set me down. “Ok Miss Witch! Now is the time to use your magic!”

Derek and Alex were biting and clawing each other. I tried to focus on separating them and that worked for a moment. Steph went straight for Alex and yanked him away. Derek was in wolf form. He turned to me and growled low. I lowered and stared at him. “Get out of there, Em!” I heard Steph.

Derek had no control. I knew this. I wouldn’t hold anything he did tonight against him. It was Alex’s fault I was standing here facing down a mindless wolf.
