Alex was sent home for two weeks. Derek was reading a book. Derek hadn’t mentioned much about the bites I got from him and I was wondering if I would turn into a werewolf…It kind of scared me. He would catch me staring at him and I would have to come up with something weird to say.

Derek looked up at me. I was supposed to be studying for the Witches History test next period but I couldn't even look at my book. I was too focused on Derek. “Woman….if you say something weird other than what is truly on your mind…we are going to have a problem.” He said with a grin. I blushed a little and took in a deep breath.

“Am I going to turn into a werewolf? The School doesn’t know that I was-“

He burst into laughter and shook his head. “sorry, sometimes I forget you aren’t familiar…um, no…you have to be born a wolf. I can’t change you even if I wanted too. Is that why you have been staring at me for the last few weeks?”

“Yep….I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going to change unexpectedly and hurt someone.”

He grinned. “You have nothing to worry about.”

I looked at him. It was December and I wondered if he was wanting to go to the Christmas ball. He hadn’t said anything about it but Max and Steph were going to go.

“Derek…”

“Hm?” he asked, looking up from his book again.

“Do you want to go to the Christmas ball?”

He stared at me. “I didn’t think you wanted to go. You said you didn’t like dances…”

I looked down. “Well if you don’t want to, that’s fine.”

He put his hand under my chin and made me look at him. “Em, I want to go if you do.”

“It’s ok, I’m sure we can find something else to do.”

He chuckled. “We already have something to do. We are going to the ball.”

“Derek, I know you don’t want to go.”

“I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.”

I smiled a little. “Really?”

“Really.”

I smiled and felt him kiss me. “Derek…I am so glad I have you.”

He smiled. “I love you, Em.”

I smiled. “I love you too.”

I looked in the mirror at my new dress. It was long and blue, made of silk, and showed off my curves. The straps went over my shoulders and I had a shawl to go with it. My shoes were white, my necklace was silver, and I wore matching earrings. I felt so good about myself.

A knock came to my door and I opened it. It was Derek in his usual styled suit and ruffled hair. “Wow…Um….wow.”

I giggled and took his hand. “Ready, Der?”

“Uh….yeah….you look beautiful. Blue is your color.”

“Thank you, you look fantastic too.”

He smiled.

For the good part of the night me and Derek danced and were inseparable. Finally I needed some fresh air. “Derek, I’m going to the front, I need air.”

“You want me to come with you?”

“No, hon. Max has been trying to get your attention all night. Go give him some, I’ll be back shortly.”
