chapter 16: Wild card

      "Beth is there a medical kit somewhere in this truck and also why are you heading deeper into the forest?" 

          She sighs and tosses a medical kit at you. You catch it before it hits the floorboard. You pop the lid open and lift up Rosa's shirt to the middle of her back. You gaze at the blood red blazing burn scorched into her skin. 

     "I know somewhere we need to go." Beth replies. You shrug your shoulders while taking out a water bottle out of the kit. You open it and pour it on top of the burn. Then, you put some medicine on it. You quickly place a bandage over the burn just as Beth takes a sharp left turn. 

      "Hey, Beth. If you can't drive any better, I'll be happy to take your place." You snap. She sighs loudly. 

      "I'm sorry. I know where I am going at least." She snaps back. She heads down another road and starts going across a bridge over a flowing raging river. You glance at the raging water below and atuomatically shiver. 

      Rosa opens her eyes and blinks a couple of times. You glance at her, a smile on your lips. She bites into her lip while her eyes dart from you and Beth. 

     "What the heck?" She mumbles and wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. 

     "I helped you." You say, tilting your head to the side. She raises an eyebrow, a confused confusion twisting into her facial features. 

      "What?" 

     "I helped you." 

    "Why?" 

     "because, I owe you, that much." You reply. She blinks and suddenly, her eyes fade into a pure black color. 

     "You're so stupid." She says and laughs. You raise an eyebrow at her. 

      "It's your fault for what happened to me." She points a finger at you.   

     "Those doctors turned me into a monster and it's all your fault!" She shouts. She pounces at you making, your back hit the door.

    Unfortunately, the door opens causing you to fall back and roll onto the bridge. Beth stops the vechile just as Rosa steps out of the car. She walks up to you and grabs the collar of your shirt. She lifts you toeye level. 

    "I'm getting you back for what you did." She fishes a blade out of her jean pocket. Tears cloud your eyes as she presses the blade against your neck. You glance out the corner of your eye looking at Beth who, is slipping off her glove. She quickly sneaks up on Rosa. 

       "If that's what you want, but you're coming with me." You reply. She flashes you a confused expression. Beth appears next to her and wraps her fingers around her arm. 

    Rosa screams out as electric purple shock waves pulse throughout her body. She lets go of you and you feel gravity abandon you. Just as your body hits the water, Beth pushes Rosa into the water. 

     The raging water around you, drags you under. You hold your breath as you sink lower into the river. You open your eyes to see sharp rocks and fish around you. Suddenly, something hits your head making everything go completely black.
