Helena Evans POV
I got up from the bed and reached for the white robe on the couch. Then I made my way to the bar to get a glass of wine before heading to the balcony to admire the view outside. It was already dark, but I could see the lights that enhanced the building's grandeur. The lights create a captivating display that is visually pleasing while also accentuating the city's distinctive beauty.
The cold breeze of the air touched my bare face; it felt refreshing. My heart is filled with joy since this is the first time I have had freedom. Savannah was truly a great help to me. I will make sure that I compensate for her effort to act on my behalf while I am with my lover.
I chuckled. I imagined Liam's reaction in my head. If he finds out I have deceived him again, he will undoubtedly go insane.
What a pathetic man! This is my revenge for not divorcing me. If he wants me to suffer, I am going to do the same.
This is my chance to enjoy my freedom and spend more time with Logan. I did not expect to fall in love with a man. I had been in relationships with so many men, despite being married to Liam, who despised me so much. Being with another man is my way of showing my rebellious side. But Liam shows no emotion at all; in other words, he doesn't care what I do as long as I do not brag about my affairs in public.
I thought he would learn to love me after we got married, but he loathed me so much that just looking at my face made him want to puke. I am just his wife on paper.
What a jerk!
But I understand why he acted that way towards me. I smirked. Who would have thought that I would fool the heartless billionaire?
I tried to win his favor. I tried to repent for what I did. I even sincerely asked him for forgiveness, but he acted so cold and heartless towards me. I know I made a terrible mistake, but don't I deserve another chance? He never gives me a chance.
And when I fell in love with Logan, I lost myself. I don't even care about Liam's reputation. I wanted to show the world that Logan was my lover. I wanted to go out with him without worrying that someone might judge us.
So, as someone who fell in love, you will do anything for the sake of the person you love. And I asked Liam for a divorce; I even begged. I still remember his hated gaze towards me, his eyes full of disgust and madness.
"Please, Liam! I want a divorce!" I begged him, but he never showed mercy. Instead, he just smirked and mocked me.
"Why should I divorce you, Helena? Who would have thought that I would see you like this begging me for your lover's sake?" he said, mocking me. "You want to marry him and live happily ever after? Don't make me laugh, Helena. You're a woman not capable of loving someone."
His expression grew stern and lifeless.
What a bastard!
I wanted to cry, but I did not want him to see me so vulnerable. At the very least, I did not cry in front of him.
"You want to marry him and leave me miserable?" he continued. "Well, to tell you the truth, I don't have a plan to divorce you until our dying moment, Helena. Just enjoy your affairs with other men privately."
I wanted to slap him or hurt him but do I have the right to do that?
I laughed sarcastically. My rebellious side awakened. "I'm tired of keeping my man in private, Liam."
His eyes squinted and his pupils dilated. His face became darker as before and the anger in his eyes became more intense. At that moment, I felt so scared of my life because, just looking at his face, I knew he wanted to kill me right now.
"Don't you dare show your affairs in public, Helena! You know how capable I am of damaging your man's reputation." His voice was cold and dangerous.
I know he was serious about his threat. And I knew from the start that he had already done a background check about Logan's identity.
"You're a selfish bastard!" I spat the words like venom. I am very angry right now because he was right—he was capable of ruining Logan's reputation. And I don't want that to happen.
"No, Helena, I am not selfish. You are!" he fired back with a cold voice that could freeze my entire body. "If you're not so selfish, you should have treated our daught—"
I was back at the moment when I felt a warm arm wrapped around me.
"Aren't you cold, honey?" Logan whispers in my ear before he buries his face in my neck, inhaling my scent.
"Don't you want to enjoy the view?" I said lovingly, holding his arms tightly around me.
"I don't see anything besides the lights from the buildings, honey.
I giggled. Ever since Logan never enjoyed the view of skyscrapers, the streetlights, and others,. He prefers staying inside, reading books, and cooking. We were so opposite, but we managed to understand and respect our differences.
I gasped when he carried me inside and laid me on the island table. He pecks a kiss on my lips before taking the wine glass I'm holding and putting it on the bar counter.
"Are you hungry? I will cook something to eat." And now he was engaged in the kitchen. I just stared at him affectionately. He was so sweet and loving.
"I eat anything you make, darling," I said, smiling sweetly. I left the island table and approached him. I hugged him from behind. "I love you, Logan."
He was the only person who accepted my flaws and saw me as who I was; that's why I fell in love with him. He loves me at my worst, though I am a real bitch sometimes.
He turned around and hugged me. "Then marry me, Helena."
God! This is frustrating. Every time he brought up marriage, it made me feel upset because I couldn't do anything about it.
I want to marry him so badly, but Liam never lets me go.
"Just give me more time, Logan."
He kissed my forehead and looked at me in the face. He smiled brightly. "I will wait, Helena."
"Thank you. For now, let's travel all over the world."
"But you told Savannah you would be back in three months, honey. It takes a year or two to travel around the world." He seemed concerned.
I grinned. "I will never go back. Never." I clung my arms to his neck and looked at his handsome face with so much love. "Let's run away, Logan. Take me to a place where no one can separate us."
That's the best plan I could think of. Maybe Liam will grow tired and divorce me.
