Chapter 38: The day

Emily
I'm really shaky,I keep glancing to Liam and to my shaky fingers. Liam soothes me down by putting his hand on my shoulder,and gave a calm smile. This is gonna be tough. The other guy sitting on the other table beside us looks fierce and wild. I think I'm gonna puke for having too much anxiety. I took a deep breath to calm down,but when I saw Ali sitting on there facing me with the same feeling,I know I should be strong.
Everyone's here,mom,and my friends."So,based on the outcome we had taken,you said or saw Emily shot you. But Jenna tried to shoot Emily first."
"Yes." Alison answered shaky,probably because of the guy's face. He walks like a gentleman,but I'm sure he's just stressed out for this case."How did Jenna attack Emily?"
"She pushed her on the wall...getting ready to shoot her."
"Please continue,witness."
"Emily had a piece of shattered glass on her grip. When Jenna was about to shoot her in the head,she took the chance to stab her with it."
"These are the photo of the scene. You said Jenna missed the shot,right?"
"I didn't say that." The guy seemed nervous after Ali said and rubs his eyes. The jury guy quickly tries to concentrate but his eyes seems tired. "Fate,get some rest next time." The judge advises him and he becomes ashamed."As I were saying...uh.."
Whispers start to begin,confused and not believing this guy."Please quiet down!" The judge demands and it's back to silence."You...uh.."
"Yes,Jenna did miss the shot. It was right beside Emily's head right after she stabbed her with the glass." Alison helps the guy to wave away the awkward feeling his having,that's how I know Ali. Even though he doesn't notice it,I still am proud of my girl. I kind of smile a little and Liam does too to me."Happy huh?" He whispers to me and I smile."So you're telling the truth. The fingerprints on the gun was Emily fields',but it was after Jenna held it."
Ali nods slowly and look down,my heart is like a earthquake."Why did Jenna coerce you both awful things?"
"She's a psycho."
"She is. She met you and Miss Fields,so she can control you both. Am I correct?"
"She told us to do bad things,just so she could see us suffer."
"Were you in a relationship with her?" Ali couldn't answer,she's quite red."I object,Your Honour Fate is making the witness uncomfortable." Liam stand guarded,and Ali looks at me. I couldn't look away,her gaze is pulling me to stare."Proceed." The judge let's Fate carry on,I do feel uncomfortable. Liam sits back,feeling unsatisfied.
"I'm sorry to be rude,but were you?"
"Yes."
"Why do you think Emily shot you?"
Ali paused again,that's because she doesn't know why."I'm afraid I don't have to answer that."
"Why so,Miss DiLaurentis?"
"I don't even know why she shot me. Okay but what I know,is that she only did it so Jenna would run off like a coward!" Ali started to feel pissed about this guy,but I feel bad for doing that to her. She suffered enough. Maybe she's still mad at me because I shot her.
"Stand down." The judge told Ali to calm down and she does,she has to. "My apologies. You don't know why she shot you,but she carried you to the hospital through someone else." Ali blinks slowly,I can feel that my mind is starting thinking about Spencer.
"Your friend,Spencer Hastings helped you to get to the hospital. Why?"
"Because Emily told her to. She couldn't bring me to the place herself because it's too risky. " Wait. I didn't tell her that...how did she knew? Spencer. She must've told her.
"You knew Spencer brought you to the hospital to get treatment,because Emily told her to...but you don't know why Emily shot you?" Ali shook her head a no,hardly I could see a tear in her eyes. She looks at me and I sit still.

It's my turn to be questioned,by Liam.
"Okay,Emily. You shot Ali,what was the reason?"
"It's a dumb opinion but I had to do it just so I could put myself in jail."
"Why?"
"Jenna was running off everywhere. I can't just let her fetch Alison. I had this whole thing planned."
"Please tell us."
"Jenna has plans for me to do to Alison. I had to do it until I could do mine at the end. And so it happened."
"Why would you put yourself in prison for Alison?"
"So she can have a nicer life without Jenna catching through the middle."
"Don't you think Jenna would still disturb Alison while you are in prison?"
"...I actually didn't think that through."
Liam hands out a few photos of Noel,being shot in he head and his skin burnt after being licked by fire. I couldn't look at it so I head down."This boy,Noel Kahn. You know him?"
"He's a part of the team. But I swear,Jenna killed her. Not me."
I say a little furious,and my voice hits so deep with rage. "How did Jenna killed him? Were you there as soon as it happened?"
"No. When I got there,he was already dead."
"Why did you kept Jenna alive?"
"I was waiting for this moment."
"Make yourself clear."
"I went to jail,and I felt how crappy it is."
"Mind your language."
"I'm sorry,but she has to rot in hell. She deserves this."
"Let me make it straight. You tricked Jenna,by putting yourself in jail,and wait until we prove you're innocent. And get her behind bars?"
"You spoke my words."
"It's a clever thing to do,but why do you think Jenna want you and Miss DiLaurentis to suffer so badly?"
"Maybe it's because she's not satisfied with the world's operation. Or maybe it's because she's mentally ill."
"Thank you,Emily. That's all from me."
Fate stands up,carrying a file on his grasp. His footsteps making me nervous."You formed yourself as the bait,so the police department won't be able to find out what Jenna has done. Yet. So,if the police found her first and captured her,she would still get out. Just like twenty years ago."
"Exactly."
"Do you think it is the right choice for you to do?"
"I had no other choice."
"Everybody does." I saw sadness on Fate's face,but he shakes it off and turns back to serious."Why did you go to Spencer?"
"She was the only person left that I could have faith with and the only person that understands how serious it was. I was in a desperate moment. I didn't know where to head next."
"So you just surrender yourself to the police?"
"All I had to do was to raise my hands up when they found me."
"Why give yourself in when you could just tell us the truth about Jenna?"
"It would ruin the plan."
"The plan of giving yourself first then her?"
"Accurately."
"Thank you. That's all I wanted."
The judge looks like he's thinking,sorting the puzzle.
