We're all gathered in the academy of unseen arts because of the election for top boy. I remember when I still went to school, I wanted to run for top boy but the high priest said it was only for boys. Technically I'm neither a boy or a girl, I just identify as a girl. The way I was born was very unnatural and I don't have the same contents as most women. I don't have a womb or ovaries. That's okay because I've never wanted to have kids. Maybe it's possible but I wouldn't know how. I'm the only one of my kind so how would I even get kids.

I can't believe my thoughts trailed off so far, I barely noticed Sabrina leaving my side to join Nicholas Scratch.

"I want to run for top boy," She states.
Sabrina for top boy? That would be amazing but I don't think they'd let her compete unfortunately.

But despite what I believed, Sabrina can compete in the challenge. It would be amazing to see her win from Nicholas Scratch. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy but he's a bit of a flirt, especially with Sabrina.

"Sabrina this is great! I can't believe they're finally letting a girl run for top boy!" I exclaim as we are all gathered in the living room.

"Yes, indeed. You will have a lot to study," Zelda says. She sounds stern but on her face is a proud glow that reveals the tenderness she has for Sabrina.

"Didn't you go to the academy, y/n?"

"I did. I wanted to run for top boy too but they didn't let me because unfortunately the path of night is sexist,"

"That's horrible!" Sabrina shouts.

"Nothing I can do about it now," I shrug.

"Well I think I can make a change. I will have your votes right?"
I nod vigorously. Sabrina smiles in return and then turns her attention to Lucas (Ambrose's boyfriend)

"What about you Lucas? I will have your vote right?"

"Sorry, Sabrina but it's called top boy for a reason,"
Did he really just say that? I stand up with balled fists ready to bash his skull in but Hilda pulls me back onto the ground.

"Let him live so you can prove he was wrong," She whispers.

"What about you Ambrose?" Sabrina asks, now more desperate.

"...."
Unlike I expected, Ambrose doesn't say anything. Seriously? Sabrina is his niece! Why would he not support her? I thought I knew him better than this.

Once we're in Sabrina's room we lay down on the bed. Sabrina sighs in frustration as she lays her head on my chest. I caress her hair as I hold her in my arms.

"Don't worry Sabrina. We'll prove them wrong," I say softly.

"Can you do something for me?"

"Anything,"

"Now I'm at the academy full time I can't look out for my friends. While I'm doing this challenge, could you keep an eye out for them?"

"Of course,"

"Really? I thought you hated mortals,"

"Well Harvey and I aren't the best of friends but we're not enemies anymore either. What place Roz is in with me is still in debate and regarding your small friend... "

"Suzie,"

"Yes, I like that one. That one is fierce, I can sense it,"

Sabrina chuckles at my comment.

"Good night y/n,"

I roam the child-filled halls of the mortal school. Why do all these mortals have to be in one place, it's impossible to find anyone here. Wait, do I remember what Harvey smells like?
