Chapter 5: A Noble's innocence

Tema  walked over with Lucile in the outdoor area of the academy to the row of people exercising. He could hear a woman talking behind them instructing them how to exercise properly, "... so class you stretch the arm like this and.. (noticing Lucile and Tema) oh Lucile I was told you wouldn't be turning up today, but you brought a guest" she turned to face him "You must be the new student I am Miss Hera, well stand in line I'm about to start the roll call"  Tema stood at the end of the line and looked at the Teacher, she had short brown hair In a ponytail, she wore a small dark-green t-shirt which left her belly exposed, she wore brown hardened gloves and had bottoms only down to her knees.

Hera walked down to the middle of the line and produced a sheet of paper and a quill and started calling out names " Jodie (here) Shawn (here).."  she crossed of every name that answered then she came to Lucile "Lucile"

"here"

"and what's your name"

"Tema miss Hera" 

Hera scribbled his name on the sheet of paper "Tema" she called "

here" he replied and she crosses his name, then her quill went towards the  bottom 

"Nikistasia..."  she looked up and Tema wondered who this girl was "Nikistasia..." suddenly the door at the back opened behind them and a posh looking girl  came running but fell over next to Tema " I see you're here too oh well come on stand-up"  she crossed of the last name on the list

Tema crouched down a bit to the girl, "are you alright? Here give me your hand"  as Tema helped her up he felt familiar soft hand

"Thanks your very...kind, oh it's you" Tema instantly remembered who the girl was He had run into her at the White-magic class and his face went red again.

"Late again? your cutting it close lately" said Hera "anyway Attention! (the entire row stood up straight) now today you are going to be separate into pairs for some light sparring so Nikistatia you will pair up with Tema. The goal is to beat your opponent with your current weapons,  remembering this is only sparring which means no skills for weapon bearers and only light spells for magic users, begin"

All the students broke off into pairs of two. Tema stood facing Nikistatia pulling his sword out while she produced a small object from her waist belt. The same cylinder it extended in an spear. He charged first but she blocked and tripped him up so he fell to the ground. He tried again but this she time deflected him away from her "you're putting too much focus into strength, "(he tried again but she just blocked him with ease "don't just attack try to focus your blows. Look your posture is wrong, lighten your elbow. No not like that and hold your sword properly"  she moved his body to the right position

"So I stand like this"

"That's right. When you fight use your strength to your advantage when your blocked and ride the blow" he tried again but she deflected him away "not quite try again" for the second time he struck her blade but tripped a little "almost there try again" 

 Now this time he struck her straight on and she blocked him but using his momentum jumped over her and then he tripped her up with a low sweep of his leg. "There you go. Now let's see how you defend"  she proceeded attack him with Tema ready to block but the gracefulness of her movement made her clean and quick so she quickly broke through and knocked him down he got back up "now this time try to read my moves and defend appropriately"
