Avyanna was startled awake. Something wasn't right. She listened hard. Nothing but the nearby crash of the waterfall at the end of the lake. She swam out of the old tree, which had fallen in her beloved lake and hollowed itself, that was her room and swam to the tree next door that housed her brother, Malik. Snoring loudly, he was sound asleep. When she went to her father's room the feeling of danger worsened. Avyanna quickly swam back to her bed and wrapped herself in her seaweed knitted blanket. She decided to think about what could have caused this feeling...

"Could it be father? Maybe it has to do with mother... I mean what if she is close. I should get d-" Her thoughts were interrupted by something banging into her tree. It was much too big to be a fish but no merperson was up and moving a little before sunrise. Avyanna poked her head out of her tree to see a very stunned mermaid. She swam carefully toward her and asked, "Are you alright?" The mermaid fearfully looked up, that's when Avyanna noticed. She was a pale blue color with blonde hair that was extremely long, unlike Avyanna who matched the rest of the green-skinned, short brown haired, merfolk with fish-scaled vests. She had a pale whale tale instead of a usual brown or green fish tale and a shirt made of white rubber that covered from her neck to almost her fingers. Avyanna gasped,

"You're a siren! Don't enchant me! Our house has beeswax!"

"Please don't hurt me! I am not used to such murky water that is much too hot! Please don't take out the beeswax, I don't intend on enchanting anyone." The Siren scoffed.

"Well, who are you?"

"I am Ingerma, chief of the Sirensong! Where is Nimue!" Ingerma shouted

"I am here. There is no need to cause such a fuss." Avyanna's father said as he came next to her "Avy, I need you to go summon the council. Be quick about it!"

"Yes, sir!" She quickly swam to each of the elder's trunks, knocking furiously on each one until the elder came out. Swimming at her top speed she was quickly back home. The elders had all gathered around the council table. Avyanna thought

"Zoraida, Ragna, Nadia, Brook, Stream, Current, and of course dad, but where is Syabella?" Avyanna swam around a little bit only to bump into another siren who was obviously lost. What seemed to be a he, was covered in some sort of fish skin that seemed to work in armor that covered him from tail tip to neck. He looked male but his chest showed some obvious female features.

"Another one! Holy Plankton!" she exclaimed

"You have seen the other siren here?" The siren questioned raising their trident in a threatening way.

"Woah hold your guppies! One. Put that down! You hurt one of this tribe you get all of us. Two. She is in council and not to be disturbed. Three. Are you male or female or a hybrid species?" Avyanna quizzed and the merperson lowered their weapon and replied

"I am both male and female. I am male today although it may not be the same in a day. I am her guard so I must interrupt to tell her urgent news!" The siren grumbled. Avyanna looked towards the meeting and seeing the siren and her father in a heated argument she stated

"Well if you would open your eyes you would see that she is busy arguing. How about we wait until they at least sit down."

"Fine."

"I guess I never really introduced my self. The name's Avyanna but you can call me Anna. Only my dad calls me Avy. You are?" Avyanna stuck out her hand which the siren hesitantly shook and said

"My name is Alex." He rubbed his neck "It's not the best name but it was originally Alexandria."

"Cool!" Avyanna exclaimed, "What's it like in the ocean?"
