This was it, the 3 months had been and gone, and reality was creeping in, along with the morning sun. Elena life had to move on, even if she didn't want it to.
The morning was a chilly one, the ground golden but frosty from the morning dew. Elena jumped out her bed, turning off her alarm as it hit 7. The realisation that school was today filled her with dread. She had been nothing but a wreck all summer, filling her hours with re runs of crappy tv shows, and gallons upon gallons of tea and coffee. Before her parents death, Elena was a fun loving, 'go out and get it' type of girl, now she was none of that. In its place was the gaunt face that had appeared due to the starvation that she had put herself though, along with a 'what's the point attitude'. As much as she wanted the old her back, she couldn't. Just like she couldn't cuddle her mum or dad anymore.
"Elena?" Jeremy said, as he made his way into Elena's room that was barely recognisable. "Yea" Elena replied, siting on the edge of her bed "how you feeling?" Jeremy asked, hoping to get more than one syllable out of her this time. "Fine, how you doing?" Elena replied as Jeremy plonked himself down beside her. "Fine, I guess" "what else can I be?", Elena smiled, before resting her head on his shoulder " you can be my shoulder to cry on, just like I am yours" she gestured, looking up at him. "Okay" Jeremy laughed "okay".
After the sibling bonding, Elena finally got ready. Her outfit nothing of significance. A grey hoodie that she had just found at the back of her wardrobe, along with a pair of dark washed jeans that were now slightly too big. Elena didn't want to make a effort, after all who was she trying to impress? She quickly put her hair up in a pony before making her way downstairs.
Jenna was there cooking breakfast. They had barely talked all summer, apart from the odd occasion when Elena would make her way downstairs.
"Hey, how you feeling?" Jenna asked, spotting Elena as she made her way into the kitchen. "Fine" Elena exclaimed, trying to sound as truthful as possible. As much as she knew Jenna was concerned, she was sick of hearing people asking how she was. The worst thing was, she had a whole day of it. "What do you want for breakfast?" Jenna asked, noticing Elena's change in weight. "Oh I'm fine, I'll have some coffee, it's all about the coffee" Elena informed, making her way over to the machine. "Elena you have to eat?!" Jenna warned, putting on her best serious voice. "I know, I will" Elena replied, "I'll take a sandwich too school or something?" She added, taking the cup out from under the coffee machine. "Make sure you do" Jenna proclaimed, "you need to eat!"
"Yeah yeah" Elena mumbled, as Jenna exited the kitchen. Truth was she really didn't feel like eating, she hadn't all summer. She had ate on the odd occasion, taking a few biscuits to dunk in her tea. Now though her appetite had gone, just like the Summer.
"Elena you ready?" Jeremy called, "we're gonna be late?" "Yeah just give me a sec" Elena shouted, quickly dumping the rest of her coffee down the sink before grabbing her shoes and bag. This was it! Reality.
