Mekhi pulled into the driveway of the warehouse his family owned. Earlier he'd gotten a text from his father calling for a family meeting, the reason why he had to rush away from Nadia. Mekhi had no clue what this meeting was about, but he knew he couldn't be late.
Getting out the car, he headed towards the large metal doors and pulled them open. The lights were already on and chairs were neatly placed in rows. His father was here.
Mekhi began to walk slowly.
"You came," he heard a low voice behind him.
"I really don't have a choice do I?" he turned to his father.
"No," Aidan walked past his son.
"Know where your brother is?"
"He should be on his way."
"And James?"
"He'll be here any minute."
"Good," he sighed. They shared the silence between them. Their relationship was fractured.
"What's this meeting about?" Mekhi crossed his arms over his broad chest, leaning on his heels.
"You'll find out soon," Aidan gave him a mocking smile. Mekhi knew he wasn't going to get anything else out of the man so he sat down in one of the chairs.
A few minutes later he heard the doors open. He turned to see Zach and James.
"What's going on, Dad?" Zachary asked while holding his arms out to the side. James shared a look with Mekhi before sitting down.
"We need to talk about our new "relationship" with the Madden's. After your little stunt they are still a bit skeptical of everything, but they are willing to continue the deal," his dad sat in a chair with his hands on his knees.
"So what's the problem. They are willing to continue the deal then we should be fine," Zach stated as he took a seat next to his brother.
"That's what I thought until Alexander said one of you has something that belongs to him," his eyes moved between the boys. "Now I tried my best to get it out of him what it was that he believed we had but, he wouldn't say."
"What the fuck is he even talking about? Neither of us took shit. Something is wrong with that piece of shit," Mekhi said. He hated the Madden family with every fiber in his body. He wanted to punch the shit out of them for every filthy thing they gotten away with. They were con-artist and killers. They had no regard for anyone else's life except their own.
"You tell me..." Aidan leaned towards both boys. "Did either of you take shit from him?" He turned his attention towards his youngest. "I know you like your drugs and getting drunk, but that night did you take anything important from Alexander Madden?"
Zachary moved his chair close to his father and leaned in. He was offended that his father would think so little of him.
"No," he gritted his teeth. Zachary hated being accused...just like their dad.
"Are you sure?"
"For fucks sake. Yes," Zach stood, putting his hand over his mouth and turning his back to them. Aidan watched his son; he never believed a word that came out of his mouth and Zach knew it. Zachary had broken that trust with all his irresponsible actions. He was never getting it back.
"Forgive me Sir, but you do know that Alexander has a history of mental illness and enjoys causing...disagreements," James chimed in. Aidan gave his attention to James and nodded.
"That is true, but it won't matter how crazy the boy is. If he tells his father anything, it can, and will start a war between our families," he chuckled to himself in disbelief.
