Mari's POV
After I left the diner, I took the long way home. It was a pretty lenghty walk from the diner to my house. I put my headphones on and played my usual music.
My walk home consisted of me wailing out lyrics to songs and thinking about Calum Hood. I didn't believe that I almost kissed him. My mom said I couldn't get a boyfriend or date until I'm 25. If I kissed someone, my best friends probably had already planned my funeral. Calum was hot as frick and I couldn't resist him, especially since he made a move on me. But no one liked little Asian Mari. People used me for homework and other crap like that. I was one of those girls who had a crush on a lot of people. Those were my middle school and early high school days or how I liked to call them my "Dark Ages." The "Dark Ages" were humiliatingly hilarious and the time where I had no school friends.
I still didn't have school friends but two best friends outside of school. They were Lucy and Jo. Lucy was this nerdy awkward girl who loved anime and Jo was loud. Everybody knew Jo's family. Lucy and I were just her friends that looked like her. We were all Asian. I was a grade above them and also the wiser one. Lucy was the one we always picked on for being "out of the loop." Jo was the one who had a bæ. His name was Ed. I had a lot of bæs. My whole music list was my bæ.
Back to Calum, I met him that day so I still had to get to know him. His friends were a different story. So the Luke guy, he was gorgeous but I was roughly 5'3" and Luke was like nine foot tall. Like he was 20% hair and 80% legs. His legs were more beautimus than mine. My legs were hairy as frick. He also had a lip ring. I wanted to tap dat but I was at his fricking hip. He did have nice dimples though, like me.
The other two were cool. One changed his hair colour every three months. He had really cool band t-shirts. He had an eyebrow piercing. Also very tall.
The other one who had curly hair had the cutest laugh. Whenever our English teacher cracked a joke, he laughed in like 25 different ways. There was the old man and the school girl.
They had a secret dress code that consisted of black skinny jeans, flannel or t-shirt, and vans. They didn't wear anything other than that. Ever. I hadn't even seen them swim in a pool without black skinny jeans or even in the summer. They looked punk rock but after meeting Luke and Calum, they acted nothing like it. They were idiotic in a good way.
I eventually made it home. It was about 9 when I got home and my parents were nowhere to be seen. I texted my mom and asked where they were. She replied with " DA movies!" I face palmed and guffawed my pants off. I was alone and free. I took that as my chance to blast music from the home speakers. I was going to jam until the break of dawn, mon. I was singing the best I could when our alarm system went off. It kept saying "Back door open." in its animatronic voice. I freaked out and ripped my phone out of the speaker dock. I turned off the light and hid behind the wall next to the stairs. I had been taking a self defence class and had been pretty good at it. I was in a position ready to kick a person's face off when I noticed it was my dad. Sadly, I didn't recognise him in time and kicked him in the groin. He fell to the floor groaning in pain.
~
Funny how I used 6 ice packs that day. It took 3 ice packs just for my dad's area. I felt bad but he still complimented on my kicking. I decided to leave the issue to my mom who was in fact a doctor. I went to my room and did my not-so-nightly routine. I fell onto my bed and grabbed my phone. I opened Wattpad and looked to see who updated. I never slept later than 3 AM on weekdays unless it was an awesome fanfic. I noticed I had a text message from an unknown number.
From: (434) 123-5505
Hey ;)
My parents always reminded me about "stranger danger." I ignored the text and continued reading when another text popped up on the screen.

I laughed quietly and made a new contact for him. I then replied to him.
