12. Promises

After a while Zach let me go. I looked at his eyes. His eyes are so expressive. I could see the sadness through his eyes. Both of us were staring each other. There was an awkward silence in the room.

And as always I got panicked and said "Is she your girlfriend?" Zach looked at my eyes and said"Umm... What?"
"That girl who came here early." I said looking straight at his eyes.

Zach touch my cheek with his hand and without breaking eye contact he said "No.She is not my girlfriend."

"Then who is she?" I asked him.
"I can't tell you."Zach said.

What. How could he say so? I thought he was going to explain everything and also apologize.

"Wow. I should probably go now. " I said and started going out of the room which maybe belonged to someone else now.

But Zach hold my wrist "No Nina not this time. I need you. Please try to understand."

I was angry and hurt so without thinking I burst out " What should I understand Zach? What? All I asked was one question and you couldn't answer me  then what about other questions I have for you? And if you are not comfortable to answer one damn question then I don't think you need me. Goodbye Zach."

"Wait, I am sorry okay for that night and today. I just got panicked. I want to share everything about me with you like you shared everything about you with me. If there is one person I trust blindly except myself, it's you. Only you." Zach said holding my hand.

I cared about him alot. I could see how broken he is and not knowing the reason why , was breaking me. I had trusted him with all of life. I shared him everything from little details like favourite food, colour and so on to my insecurities, how my parents were unhappy and how that affected me badly.

"Nina, let me explain it somewhere else some other day if that's okay to you. Please just one more chance."
When Zach said this I couldn't shut him down.

"Okay, just one more chance." I said.

"Okay. I will message you soon."Zach said with a little smile.

Then I went home. I saw Nina was still asleep. I woke her up and then we decided to meet our other friends  Karla and Diana.

So we went to our favourite cafe. We meet Karla and Diana. Sara ordered cheese burger, I ordered fries and coffee and Karla and Diana ordered pizza however we always eat each other's food.

"So Nina how was yesterday night?" Sara asked me. I nearly slipped out my coffee. Sara again said " I could have gone with you to Karla's home. It has been long time since we four have done sleepover together."

Then I realised that I had lied to Sara and I turned out and saw Karla looking at me or simply expecting an explanation.

"Yeah, we should do that soon. We had a great time yesterday, right Nina?" Karla asked me. I couldn't say anything so I just nodded.

The next day, it was time for Sara to go. I was sad. We said our goodbyes and she went.

It was already work day. So I went to my office. I had a lot to explain to Karla and Diana. I hate keeping secrets and I am bad at it. So during lunch time, I met Karla and Diana and explained everything that has happened till now.

They both were happy for me as they both liked Zach. I was kind of relieved to express someone I was feeling. Then I returned home got freshen up. I saw a message from Zach. I read it and butterflies were all over my body

"Hey beautiful. Sorry for messaging late but I was preparing something. So, can you meet me this Saturday at 6 pm? And wear something casual. I miss you very much and I promise to explain everything to you. No more any secrets ❤️

And all I could reply is Okay. How dumb of me. Well at least I will be sleeping nicely today. Hope things get sorted out between us.
