14. Surprise

So after Zach explained me everything, we have been hanging out often. I also went to meet Zoe. She was actually very loving girl and I also found out that Zach and Zoe were very close. It is Monday today and Zoe is going today. I will miss her. In very short time, I became very close with Zoe. Zach and I took her to the airport.

After that I went to my work. Everyone was outside the office.  I saw Karla and Diana and went there. They told me that our office was going to be sold so office was closed until someone buy it. We decided to go to the nearby restaurant. Karla's birthday was coming so we decided how we gonna celebrate it this year. She told me she wanted to have a house party.

After talking for some hours, we went for shopping. While shopping, I sent message to Zach explaining how I am jobless now. He told me not to worry and said he will be busy for some days so he will meet me next week only. It was a little weird because he used to meet me everyday even when he was busy,he used to spend some time with me. However,I said okay.

It was already Monday. Well the whole week I spent with Karla and Diana. Some days we went shopping. Some days we hangout in each other's home. We also met Karla's boyfriend, Harry. He was very friendly to us. Diana also was seeing a boy. She had a date on Friday and Karla and I helped her to get ready. This whole week I didn't meet Zach but we have been talking in phone. Just yesterday Zach said he has some surprise for me and said that I will get the surprise today.

The office was bought by a new company. So everyone was eager to meet the new owner. Some were saying The CEO is young and handsome. So most of the girls were excited but I didn't care. I was just thinking about the surprise that Zach was going to give me.

Everyone was called in the cafeteria by CEO. When I went there, there was already a big crowd. So I couldn't see the face of CEO. Just then someone spoke and I knew who it was. I got shocked. I tried to go ahead and there I saw him, Zach.

Hello everyone. My name is Zach Edison but everyone should address me as Mr. Edison and I am the new CEO of this company. I have changed some rules and positions of some of you and some of workers from my company are also joining this office. So everyone go back to work. I will inform if any changes has happened to your position. Have a good day.

Everyone started to go back to their work and Zach smiled at me and told me to come to his office. After a while I went to his office, I knocked at the door and Zach said come in without looking at me. "Umm... Mr. Edison you wanted to see me."

Zach stopped writing and looked at me. "Oh, hi Nina. Please sit down." I sat down. "And call me Zach when we two are alone okay." I nodded and again he started talking. "So how was my surprise" Zach said smiling. I replied " very unexpected". He smiled again. "There's more Nina. You are now my personal assistant. I needed a trustworthy person for this job and there's nobody I trust more than you. Also you will be paid double for this work."
I smiled and thanked him.

"Also,there are some rules. You need to come office at 8 and you can leave at 6. As you will be working more than others everyday, you will get half day off at Friday. Even though we are friends outside but in office we will be professional. Okay."

"Okay" I said. And then Zach showed my new room. I went there and started doing my work. There was a board meeting coming Friday so I had to call every partners and then be sure that they are coming. Then I had to check the venue and manage everything. It was already lunch time. So I went to cafeteria, met Karla and Diana. "Nina, why didn't you tell us that Zach was going to be our new CEO."Karla said. "Karla I didn't even know about this." I said honestly.

We talked and had our lunch. I got to know Karla and Diana had also got new job in the office. Karla was now accountant manager and Diana was receptionist and their salary was also increased. Only our jobs were changed. Why only us?

After finishing lunch, I went to my work. I had to give update about board meeting to Zach. So I went to his office and informed him. He looked at me all the time I was speaking. Well that was awkward.
I worked till 6 and was about to call cab but then I met Zach.

"Nina, come I will drop you home"
I said okay and now we are on his car.
We both were silent. So I thought about breaking the silence. "Zach, why did you change my, Karla's and Diana's job only?"

"Because you guys deserved a better job. I didn't do it because you are my friend rather I checked your profile and the previous CEO has complimented your and your friends work."

We had already reached my apartment. I got out of the car and said "Thank you , Zach and Goodnight"

"Goodnight Nina. See you tomorrow."
