"Wait a minute, Danny." Frank held him back. "Let her parents talk to her first."
Outside, Steve and Sofia were yelling at their daughter. The Reagans could hear them shouting from inside the house.
Danny shook his head. "I'm sorry, I just can't listen to them yell at my fiancé." He stood up and walked outside.
"How dare you say that to us?!" Steve yelled at Linda. "You're gonna get it!"
She braced herself for his blow, but nothing happened. She opened her eyes and saw Danny holding Steve's wrist.
"You're not gonna hurt her!" Danny almost growled.
"Oh yeah? Who's gonna stop me?" He sneered.
"I am."
"Yeah, right."
"If you so much as lay a pinky finger on her, I swear, I'll lock you up faster than you can say Miranda Rights."
"Pfft. You're bluffing!"
"Daddy, listen to him..." Linda warned.
"What can he do?" Steve challenged.
"This." Before anyone knew it, Danny cuffed Steve. With his arms crossed and eyebrow raised, the cop asked, "believe me now?"
"You can't do that to him! You have no right to do that!" Sofia walked up to Danny.
"I have every right to do that. And as a police officer, I used my judgment and decided he was hurting this woman," Danny pointed to Linda. "And, if you'd like a new piece of jewelry, then I suggest you leave Linda alone."
"Linda! Do something!"
"Got an extra set of cuffs?" She asked Danny. He gave them to her, and she put them on her mom.
"Now you're in trouble. What do you have to say for yourself?!" Steve yelled.
"Mom, Dad, I hope you have a good life. Because mine is going to be great. I hope when you're sitting in a jail cell for harassment or domestic violence or whatever, you'll remember this moment. You'll remember that I no longer give a d@mn about what happens to you two. If you can't be happy for me, why should I be happy for you? And I hope when you're older, and you think to yourselves 'why doesn't Linda ever call or visit?', you'll remember this moment. Cause I'm not backing down, and I'm not giving up my life of happiness because you two are b!tches." She hooked her arm with Danny's. "I am marrying Daniel Fitzgerald Reagan whether you like it or not."
The sound of clapping prompted everyone to look at the house. The Reagans were standing on the front porch, clapping for Linda.
"Fine! Fine! Whatever! Take these off!" Steve demanded.
"Only if you promise to be nice to Linda." Danny said.
"Yeah, okay, we promise. Now get us out of these!"
Danny unlocked the handcuffs and Linda's parents angrily drove home.
"Can I go home now?" Linda wondered.
"Sure, I'll drive ya."
