Who knows how long it's been since the end of the world started. Days and nights no longer worked on a schedule, time only passing when Bill said it could. It was rarely ever night anymore, the sky a dark bloody red, yet the streetlights that remained unbroken, and the giant rip in the sky kept things bright enough to be annoying.

Only a few people ever mentioned their new ruler by name, those who dared risk it were those who resided in the safety of the Mystery Shack. Those who would remain safe, even as the rest of the world fell into chaos.

Yes, the rest of the world. Ford has tried bargaining the code for Dipper's freedom, but it hadn't quite worked out in his favor. The dream demon was too good at finding loopholes in the deals they made, and in the end Bill got both the code, and his pet.

Dipper Pines sat in the throne room of the Fearamyd, staring off into space as he remembered the events from the last few days? Weeks? Days...

Bill had said he would get used to the feeling of blood on his hands, get used to the crunch of breaking bones and the tearing of tenders, and in a way he has. The sensations no longer bothered him, neither did the blood or the pathetic screams of those he killed. Bill had made him kill them off, one by one, until he no longer broke down afterwards. He had stopped crying after every kill, stopped feeling the guilt that weighed him down. After Gideon it had been Wendy, then Robby, then Soos...

Each one had been different, and each one had broken him a small bit on the inside. The kills had slowly chipped away at his already dwindling sanity, leaving him broken, but no longer upset.

Wendy had fought back, but had inevitably lost after Dipper had driven the knife into her kneecap, rendering her unable to move. Cutting her throat had been easy after that.

Robby had tried to run, only to get pinned down and slowly choked to death, even as he flailed and tried true punch the preteen who was holding him in a choke hold. Dipper had bruises afterwards, but the satisfaction of knowing his summertime rival was out of his way was more satisfying than he had expected.

Soos... Soos was the one that got to Dipper the most, causing him to seek comfort in the arms of the demon who no longer looked at him as merely a puppet. Soos had simply stood there, giving Dipper a comforting and understanding smile, even as his intestines fell through the large cut in his stomach, and blood dripped from his mouth.

The demon had comforted him afterwards, running his fingers through the boy's hair and whispering comforts into his ear. He had let Dipper cry himself to sleep in the demon's arms, listening patiently as the boy cursed his dead friend for being so damn understanding about it, cursed Bill for forcing him to do it, cursed himself for not putting up a better fight, before passing out from pure exhaustion in his arms.

Bill had held him all night, keeping the nightmares away, enjoying how calm the mortal looked in his sleep. Dipper had apologized the next morning, knowing his outburst was a bit out of line. Bill had assured him everything was okay, the honesty in the words making him grin up at the demon.

So when yesterday rolled around, and the Pines family attacked the Fearamyd, Dipper was ready to defend his new home, his new master, his new life style.

And that's exactly what he did.

•••••

It was nearly eight in the morning (not that time mattered anymore), and while Dipper had still been drowsy from his sleep, he was awake and eating his breakfast.

Nothing was out of the ordinary, not really, until he heard footsteps in the hall.

They were too light to be any of the demon's who often wandered around, and too heavy to be those of Human Bill, who often floated.

He grabs his spoon, the first thing he could get his hands on, and watches the door nervously. Nobody ever comes in like this, and he was ready to put up a fight if he had too.

But when his Grunkles storm in with Mabel by their side, he nearly loses his composure.

"What are you guys doing here?"

He growls at them, trying to stay strong, trying hard not to run into the arms of his family. He can't do that, he can't open up to them after they betrayed him.

"Bro Bro! We're here to break you out! Come on!"

"No, Mabel. You guys need to leave, right now."

"Dipper, come on! We don't know when Bill will be back!"

Dipper knew Ford had made a mistake, because the second the name of the demon left his lips, a bright yellow glow filled the room, causing everyone but Dipper to shield their eyes. Dipper, who was used to it by now, runs over to Bill as soon as he appears.

"Wow! Sixer, Fez, Shooting Star! I didn't expect you guys to be here so soon!"

"Give us back Dipper!" Mabel yells, pointing her grappling hook at the demon. At the same time, Ford also cries out.

"Dipper! What are you doing?! Get away from him!" Ford takes a step closer, but stops when he sees what happens next.

Dipper pays no attention to them as he wraps his arms around the demon's waist, looking at him desperately.

"I don't want to I don't want to please don't make me-"

Bill wraps his arms around the human and shushes him, his eyes closing slightly as he leans in and whispers into his Pinetree's ear.

"You don't have to do anything you don't want to, Sapling. But I think we both know what you want."

He summons a knife and presses it into the boy's hand.

"Just know you don't have to kill them right away. We can play with them, make them pay for hurting you."

Dipper closes his fingers around the handle of the blade, letting his breathing slow to a calm pace. A sense of calm takes over him, knowing that everything would be okay once more.

"I'm sorry." His whisper is just loud enough for Bill to hear, and the familiar words being a grin to the demon's face.

A grin that stays even as the blade is driven into his side quickly, then just as quickly pulled out as Dipper runs to his family, letting them embrace him.
