—Jessica's Point of View--
I stared out the window, for I couldn't do anything else. My whole body felt numb, including my heart. My brain wasn't thinking, all it was doing was making sure my heart didn't stop beating, making sure I kept breathing.
It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining brightly down on road, the grass, and the trees. Flowers were blooming all over the yard, some red, some pink, and some even orange. White fluff balls from weeds flew around here and there, and butterflies flew past them absentmindedly. I watched as a car passed, and then a little later, a woman on a bicycle.
The neighbors' dog was laying in the shade, also watching the world as it went by.
Then a girl, a girl I knew started walking up my driveway quickly. My heart gave a sudden jump, my palms became moist, but I stayed in my seat. The doorbell rang, but I didn't answer it.
"Come on, please, answer the door, Jessica!" I heard her voice cry through the door.
She sounded desperate; she should be desperate. But I still did not get up.
"Look, can we talk about this?!"
I showed no sign of being home.
Then, I heard a sigh, and a few moments later, heavy, slow footsteps. I waited a few seconds before I got up out of my seat. Seeing no sign of her, I walked hesitantly to my door.
Slowly, I open it, and she's nowhere in sight. Just before I closed the door, though, I looked down and on my doorstep was a small, letter.
Curiously, I bent down and picked it up. There was no return address on it, but I already knew it's from my previous visitor. Tearing open the letter, I let the envelope fall as I read a short but to the point message.
I'm sorry. Please, can't you forgive me, I didn't mean it. I love you, Jessica. And whether or not you let me back into your life, there's no way that's going to change.
Look behind you.
Tears falling freely now, I looked behind me, and there she was, in my doorway, and before I can protest, she took my hands in her so that I couldn't run off. I guessed she must've entered through my back door when she heard me open the front.
Why do I keep that back door unlocked all day?
"Jessica..." is all that she can manage to say at first, and then she finds her voice again.
"I'm sorry. Really, I am, I didn't mean it. I was going to tell you the truth when the time is right"
"How do I know you're not lying?" I ask, as I stare into her gorgeous eyes. Her hair sways gently in the slight breeze before she answers.
"Because I love you, and I can't lose you. If it wasn't true, why would I come here?"
"To fool me, maybe," I answered, and she pulled me into a warm hug.
"I would never fool you, Jessica, and I mean it when I say I love you."
She gently kissed me on the cheek, and almost all of my anger towards her flushed away, as I hugged her tighter. I could fell her hot breath on my neck, her hands moving freely along my back, and a small tear suddenly fell onto my shirt sleeve.
Looking up at her, I asked,
"Why're you crying?"
"Because you're not protesting," she answered, hugging me yet tighter. "That means you still must care enough."
I smiled at her, and knew for a fact that she did care about me more than anyone ever could.
Kissing her lightly on the cheek quickly, I pulled away, smiling brightly, and asked,
"Hungry?"
She smiled lovingly at me, and answered,
"Yeah, I think I'll stay for lunch."
And with that, we walk into my home, hand and hand, together again.
A/N: Hummm.. so, guys should I continue or just leave it here.. Any ideas?
