Catipillar to Butterfly

Paz was up when the two men plus her husband were rummaging to find food; she silently sat next to Gunnar as he are his typical cereal and juice. Nobody made eye contact. As what seemed like hours of an awkward silence, one of the men spoke up saying it was time to leave. Gunnar was stopped halfway out of the door. Paz's eyes were filled with fear as he kissed her like he did before he started using heavily.

"Come home alive" she whispered

"Only for you.." he mumbled into her temple, taking a a whiff of her lemon shampoo.

They all left in his Bronco. Paz needed to calm her mind so she sat and watched her tv shows without disruption. It didn't take very long till her phone started to buzz. Her green eyes saw it was only her twelve thirty alarm. No second thought, returning her television screen. Two hours passed by and a knock sounded at her door. The twenty four opened it hoping to see Gunnar, but instead she saw Barney and Ying Yang. Barney's down casted look said something bad had happened.

"I had to, Paz. He was going to kill Yang."

"You killed my husband?!"

"No , he is at the hospital as we speak. You need to know why. He was given a shit ton of money to help a targeted agent. Gunnar will survive, and he now sees the error in his way. I promise you this when he is out of surgery and healing; he is welcomed back on the team. "

Paz couldn't believe what she heard. She grabbed her keys and flew to the emergency room; her hair a mess and no make up. The nurse at the front desk seemed uninterested.

"Can I help you?"

"Yes, my husband was brought here for a gunshot." Paz tried to sound halfway calm.

"Name"

"Jensen, Gunnar"

The nurse pulled out a clip board with insurance information.

" Fill this out and someone will be with you soon."

Paz didn't argue; she did as told. She returned the paperwork and out of her side vision she saw a doctor approaching.

"Mrs. Jensen?"

She couldn't contain her self any longer; her heart pounded and voice shook.

"Is he okay?"

"Yes, mam, and he is lucky. Shot right above the heart. He is out of surgery and in a private room, follow me. " The man directed her, and along the way, "he will need three weeks of healing and two of physical therapy. I can release him tomorrow morning. "

Paz stopped infront of the door and stared as if she saw death in person. Her hand shook as she turned the handle; upon entering she saw Gunnar half asleep but alive. No matter what wrong he had done, he was alive. Paz hugged his body close, receiving a grunt of pain. She looked down to meet his eyes. They were filled with remorse.

"You are going to make."

"So I heard, Barney told me you can be apart of the team again once you are healed."

Gunnar smiled happily, but moved is gaze else where.

"I am getting clean. I promise. "

Paz kissed his cheek, sitting beside him in the chair. She held his hand.

"I have faith in you, babe. "
