The son of Poseidon walked the fine line between life and oblivion. If the gods ever found out who he was meeting, he'd be smited by Zeus's Master Bolt on the spot. According to her, they strived to keep demigods away from her kind. The children of magic were sworn enemies of Olympus and their children.
"Perseus Jackson, the son of Poseidon." a contradictory female voice mused.
Percy recognized it anywhere. It was the girl he'd been looking for. He turned around and saw a pair of contradictory sapphire eyes boring into his soul.
Why are her eyes and voice contradictory? They are young, naive, and mischievous, yet at the same time they are old, wise, and serious. Everything about her is a contradiction.
Percy couldn't see her face, as it was hidden not only by the dark of the night, but a dark cloak and scarf as well. The only thing he could see were her eyes. But he could tell she wore a grin under her scarf.
"What is it with you people and dark clothes?" he asked. "Are you mourning or something."
"You could say that." she replied, stepping into the light of a street lamp. "Or you could say we wish to remain anonymous. Times are tough. If the wrong people knew of this meeting, we'd both be dead."
"True." he agreed softly. "How's your brother, Link?"
"He is fine. He and the Princess escaped safely." she replied, fidgeting with a ring on her finger. "How's your Annabeth?"
"She's fine. Doesn't remember meeting any of you." he responded.
"Then the spell worked." the girl said excitedly. "I couldn't trust her. She is too prideful. Hubris is the bane of secrets. But loyalty is their protector."
"But why me?" Percy demanded.
The girl grew silent. She cocked her head and brought her finger to her chin, as if she were in deep thought. She circled the demigod, studying him.
"Why indeed?" she asked herself. "Perhaps it was just on a whim, but I don't make mistakes. I saw how you don't fear death or fate, but embrace it. You are not prideful. You are courageous. You may not show it, but you are wise. You would rather die then let your friends be hurt. Perhaps I see something in you that others do not. I see in you what others miss." She came close to his ear and whispered so soft, that not even the wind gods could hear her. "You are a great person, Percy Jackson."
She pulled down her scarf and pulled back the hood of her cloak. Her golden hair cascaded down her back. She gave him a sisterly kiss on the cheek, like Hazel or Piper would.
She walked backwards, facing him, with a faint smile playing on her ruby lips. She deliberately brushed her hair behind her ears, revealing them to be pointed, the trademark of the Hylians.
"Though we are Greece's greatest enemies, I shall always be willing to help Camp Half-Blood should you ever need me." she told him.
Purple flames gathered at the hem of her cloak and slowly worked their way upward, until she was engulfed by them. She vanish in a puff of smoke, leaving the demigod alone again. Percy just chuckled and shook him head, before continuing home.
