The boy with the blue eyes is my neighbor.
"Why Hello." My mom said to the boy and smiled at him. "We're your new neighbors. Your mom invited us over for dinner tonight."
"Oh. Yeah. Come on in and make yourselves at home." The boy said to us. "My mom will be down any minute."
He stepped out of the doorway and let us in. I went into the kitchen and sat down at their bar. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and listened in to the parents conversation in the other room.
"I'm so glad you could make it." The boy's mom said.
"Thank you so much for having us, Mrs. Grier." My mom answered.
"Oh, you guys can please call me Elizabeth." she said to them.
Grier. That sounds really familiar. I can't figure out where I've heard it. My thoughts were interrupted by the boy with the blue eyes coming into the kitchen and sitting by me.
"Hey." the boy said to me and smiled. His eyes distract me from everything he's saying. They're gorgeous.
"Um hi." I said back to him. As you can probably tell, I'm not the most social person.
"So..when did you move here?" He asked me.
"A couple days ago." I answered.
"Do you like it here?"
"It's okay so far I guess. I like our house. I just don't have many friends yet I guess." I told him.
"You'll make some soon." he smiled. "I didn't catch your name?"
"Oh. It's Kayla. What's yours?" I smiled back at him.
"Nash. Nash Grier." He said this to me hesitantly. Why would he be hesitant to tell me his name?
"Nice name." I said to him. He laughed when I said it.
"Thanks." He laughed again. "I'm gonna go get dinner ready."
He got up from the bar and started making the dinner. I decide to help him. I walk over to him.
"Let me help." I smiled at him.
"It's fine. You're the guest."
"Please." I smiled.
"Fine. If you really want to." he smiled back at me. "I'll put you in charge of making this box of macaroni and cheese and you can set the table."
I got to work, and Nash and I prepared dinner together.
-----
Dinner was ready in 25 minutes. We made meatloaf, green beans, rolls and macaroni. My parents, Nash's siblings, His mom, Nash and I all sat down and ate together. It wasn't very eventful. We talked about the weather, sports, normal stuff like that. We finished eating at around 8 and then we got ready to head home.
I was waiting outside for my parents and Nash came out with me.
"You can say you have one friend now." He smiled.
"Thanks." I smiled back. I really appreciate that. I was holding my phone and Nash grabbed it out of my hands.
"Hey!" I said. What was he doing?
"I'm just putting my number in." he said defensively. He laughed at me.
"Oh." I laughed.
Nash gave me my phone back and he made his contact name "Big Booty Nash".
"Great name." I giggled.
"Don't you dare change it." he tried to say this seriously, but ended up failing and laughing.
"Don't worry I won't."
My parents came out of his house. "Let's go Kayla." They said to me.
"Bye Kayla. See ya at school tomorrow." he smiled and waved at me.
"See ya Nash!" I yelled to him as I walked back to my house.
I officially have one friend. Nash Grier.
