As soon as I got back home from the Grier's, I got into my pajamas and crawled into bed. I layed awake thinking for a while. About Nash. And his last name. "Grier" It sounds so familiar, and not just from hearing it today a lot at school. I can't remember where I've heard it before. After thinking hard about it for a couple minutes, I push Nash out of my mind and drift to sleep.
-----
"Take off your clothes." he said sternly to me.
"No." I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't let him rape me for the 3rd time.
"I SAID TAKE YOUR FUCKING CLOTHES OFF!" he screamed at me and began coming closer to me.
"DAD PLEASE NO! YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THIS ANYMORE!" I was helpless. There was nothing that I could do to stop this. He was going to rape me. Over and over and over. Until I just didn't care anymore.
-----
I jump awake, panting. I am sweating heavily.
"Oh my god." I have these dreams frequently, and they suck. It's like reliving that time in my life over and over again. I just wish that I could forget about my dad and what he did to me.
I check the time and it's 4 in the morning. I know I'm not getting anymore sleep, so I get up and go downstairs. I lay on the couch and get on my phone. I had a text. From Nash.
"Big Booty Nash: I know ur probably asleep, but if ur not, call me(:" he just sent this 3 minutes ago. Wow. He's awake too. At least I won't be lonely.
I go to his contact and dial him. After a couple rings, he picks up.
"Hey it's Kayla." I say to him.
"I know I have Caller ID." I hear him laugh.
I laugh too and then say, "Why did you ask me to call?"
"I don't know. I guess I just couldn't sleep and wanted someone to talk to." he tells me.
"Oh. Yeah, me too. Why were you up?" I ask him.
"I don't know. But I can't go back to sleep. You?"
"Bad dream." I tell him.
"Wanna tell me about it?" He says this to me sweetly. Like I could open up to him. But I know that I can't. This is too much.
"Um..no." I say flatly.
"Ok. Well I'm open if you ever want to."
"I know. Thanks Nash." I smile.
"Soo..wanna meet me outside your house?" he asks me. What the hell?
"Why? It's 4 in the morning." I couldn't help but laugh.
"Hey, I'm being serious. I wanna take you somewhere." I hear him giggle.
"Um..er. Fine. BUT MY PARENTS CANNOT KNOW ABOUT THIS." I say sternly. If they find out that I sneaked out at 4 in the morning, I'll probably end up in a grave.
"Ok ok. Got it." he agrees. "Get ready and I'll be at your house in 10."
With that, he ends the call. Where is he doing to take me? Whatever. I'll get dressed and meet him.
10 minutes later, I was dressed. I pretty much didn't care about my hair or makeup. I just threw my hair into a messy bun. I stood outside the front of my house, waiting for Nash. Maybe he forgot about me and wasn't coming. He probably fell back asleep. As I was thinking this, I see Nash come out of his house. I meet him halfway between our houses.
"So, where are we going?" I ask him.
"It's a surprise." He made a cute little smirky face at me and began walking back to his house. I dont know what he's doing, but I follow him anyways. I watch him as he opens his garage door and goes in.
"Nash, what the hell are you doing?" I am starting to get annoyed with him.
"We're riding in style." He explains as he leans against his mother's yellow Corvette.
"Nash. Are you sure this is a good idea? What if you wreck it?" I know I'm too uptight, but someone has to be.
"It'll be fine. Loosen up. Live a little." He gets in the car and starts it up. I get in on the passenger side. He backs up the car. He actually drives really nicely for a 16 year old.
"So?" I don't like driving without knowing where I'm going.
"Just sit back and relax. We'll be there in a few minutes."
I sit there watching the trees as we fly by them. We begin slowing down and then pull into a small dirt road that is extremely hidden. After driving down the road for a minute, there is a meadow. It's beautiful. There are gorgeous flowers all around and in the middle of the small clearing, there is a Willow Tree. They're my favorite. So elegant looking. It's still dark out, but when I check the time, it's 5. The sun will come out soon.
"What do ya think?" Nash asks me and smiles.
"It's beautiful." I answer, amazed. "But why did you take me here?" I ask puzzled.
"I used to come here when I needed to get away. It always helped me think things through, coming here, I mean." He explains to me.
"I love it." I smile at him.
"I took you here so you could see the sunset." he smiles. "I think it's more beautiful watching it here than anywhere else. Even the beach."
"I bet." I smile.
Nash gets out of the car and walks over to the Willow tree and I follow him. He sits in the entry of the leaves.
"This is where you can see it rise the best." He says this and smiles.
"Thanks for being so nice to me." I don't know why he is, but I really appreciate it.
"Don't thank me."
After waiting about 5 minutes, the sun begins to rise. It's so faint at first, so I don't realize the true beauty of it. Then it grows stronger. The sun comes over the horizon and all of the light that was held back before now escapes. It's the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Nash and I sit there in the meadow together watching the sunrise until it's fully risen.
