a/n this is actually quite a thicc beefy chapter. I'm sorry for the late update. Have a good day! What do you guys think about Boy with Luv?
They meet in the same cafe.
Taehyung sighs, pensively twidling a long coil of brown wire-like hair around his fingers. His hair hangs limply over his forehead like a corpse and leaves a stain of grease around the upper part of his forehead that's luckily covered by droopy bangs. A groan of exasperation is shoved out of his parched lips. He needs to wash his hair. In fact, he needed to wash it three days ago. But he keeps evading it: need to go outside; too lazy; too hungry; too sleepy—in all honesty, he's been forgetting other self-care activities too. Yoongi's been his personal reminder that humans have to eat, wash their hair and wear decent clothes instead of the horrendous sweatpants that are four years old and have a stain that never washes off.
It's Saturday and the day is still early and the yolk of a yellow sun peeks out above the shops across the cafe. The scent of pumpkin latte and something else (Cinamon? Vanilla?) clings to every piece of furniture in the cafe and floats deliriously across the room. Next, to Taehyung, Yoongi breathes in. The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans swirls inside his lungs and he can feel the werewolf inside of him slumber peacefully at the familiar scent.
It feels idyllic almost: blue crisp skies dotted with tiny white puffs of clouds; coffee beans; the smile from a barista as she hands a customer a drink; yellow bell lights; freshly polished coffee tables; early blooming plants snuck inside cosy warm-toned grey plant pots. Warm weather has come early and it's still mid-spring.
A tiny silver bell attached to the gnarled frame of the entrance chimes as a customer walks in. Taehyung finds himself unconsciously relaxing into the plush material of a blue chair as a faint spring breeze tumbles towards him.
There's the devilish tinge of nervousness that he has learnt to associate with Jungkook, but other than that he feels relaxed. Content, even. He frowns to himself, surprised at his own emotions.
"I'm going to get a latte, do you want anything?" Yoongi inquires, looking to Taehyung for an answer. The sun's gaze paints his skin a warm shade and his eyes turn an intelligent shade of copper.
His friend nods softly, "I'll get... a hot chocolate?" he replies, his nose scrunching up as he thinks. He looks up and his friend is already gone. He snorts: Yoongi can try to act indifferent most of the time, but he's a weak baby doggo for coffee.
There's a chime from the cafe door and a man bursts through as if in a hurry. Bored, Taehyung stares at him, wondering what his life is like. The man is decked in a suit, pressed neatly and onyx black that reaches his hip bone; his shirt is ironed, stiff collar and patterned with strips of ocean blue. Smart. He looks important, Taehyung cocks his head to the side and muses further. He wonders if the man has children and a wife that stays at home and cooks for him and tends to the kids. Or maybe he's sad and overworked, a workaholic whose eyes never leave the desk—save for the coffee runs he has every morning to keep him awake and focused. Or he's a closeted gay who actually is wearing rainbow stripped boxers on and secretly has a stapler fetish. His hair is gelled back and his face clean shaven.
He watches the man briskly walk up to the counter, furiously checking his watch that glints silver in the bright light of the early sun. His walk is professional: clear and steady like he knows where he wants to go.
"Taehyung?"
Oh, that familiar abrasive voice.
Taehyung jerks in surprise, his head turning faster than lightning, as if he was caught doing something bad. He flinches and his heart rises to a hammering quick-paced beat as he sees Jungkook smile at him sweetly. Too sweetly. Taehyung bites his lip, frazzled. Jungkook's never smiled like that—like he's the sweetest person on the planet.
