An aching heart

Harley's P.O.V
I woke up to the feeling of wet slimy kisses making me giggle. Opening my eyes I see Ash with his head tilted slightly.

"Hey, puppy," I whisper

"Morning!" He says loudly

I sit up to see I'm still in the barn to no surprise. "Is it still Friday?" I asked Ash and he shook his head. His ears point up straight all of a sudden. "What's wrong?" I whispered cautiously.

"Someone's here." He grits his teeth as he steps in front of me. Growling at the door. The big barn doors open and my eyes widen as I see who it is.

"Sam?" I mutter out and I see his eyes widen as he sees me. I stand up and run to give him a hug.

"Do you have any idea how worried sick you left us all. We've been looking everywhere for you and even almost filed out a missing person report." He scolds me when we pull away from the hug.

I was about to speak when he cut me off. "Are you okay love? Nothing hurt, bruised, broken?" He asks me as he inspects me carefully.

"I'm fine... really sorry I had you worried. Plus I had good company." I turn to Ash to see him not there beside me. Suddenly he pops up from between my legs making me laugh.

"Looks like you've got yourself a new friend." Sam smiles and gives me another hug. He buries his face through my hair and mumbles "You have no idea how much I missed you."

I smiled while ruffling his hair. "I was only gone for 18 hours would you calm down." I give him a grin before kissing his cheek.

I then look at Ash and get on my knees. "I need to go home now Ash... but if you like you can come with me... what do you say puppy?" I stare deep into his eyes.

"I can't leave you now, I promised I'll protect you didn't I? I'm coming with you." He answers me causing me to smile.

Now his answer sounded clear to me but sounded like a bark to Sam. So when I stood up and outstretched my arms for him to jump so I can carry him Sam got the message that he's coming with.

We walked towards the car that belonged to Cade who is Sam's older sister.

Cade runs out of the car and gives me a side hug so she doesn't squish Ash. "Thank heavens you're okay." She looks at me with warm and tired eyes.

"Sorry for the trouble Cade." I give her a tight smile. And she replies with "I'm just glad you're safe."

I place Ash in the back seat and before heading to the car I run back to the barn. "Thanks for the hospitality, you guys. I'll never forget it." I whispered to the animals who have become my friends.

"You're welcome here anytime Harley." Kelly who was the mother hen assures me with a motherly voice. I give her a grateful smile and close the barn doors.

I get into the back seat, while Sam does too since Cade had some stuff in the passenger seat.

Ash jumps over my body so he can have the window seat. He sticks his head out of the car window enjoying the view making me chuckle.

I look back at Sam who has his eyes fixed on me. "I'm really sorry for running off." I hung my head down, feeling guilty of how worried I made my friends and family.

He pulls me to his side and pecks my cheek. "Shhh... just sleep." He whispers and I obey. I fall asleep in Sam's embrace.

~Time skip ~

Sam's P.O.V

Cade stops the car at Harley's house before turning back on her seat to face me. She smiles " You two are honestly adorable." I feel my cheeks turn red as I puffed out an annoyed look at her.

"We're just friends Cade," I mumble and turn to see Harley's still asleep. I turn to look at Ash who looks at me and Harley with what looks like a grin.

I'm going crazy

I smile at the cute pup and open the door for him to jump out. He did. I then turned to Harley.

"Leah...wake up love we're home," I speak softly and see her eyes flutter open. She nods slowly and gets out of the car she then smiles at Cade and thanks her for everything.

"I'll walk home you can go back Cade thanks for everything. And don't tell the sperm donner where I am please." I get out of the car and see her sigh in defeat but nod anyway.

Harley is already at the door with Ash waiting for me to join them. I walk up to the front door and ring the bell.

The door swings open and there stands Luca. "Hey, Lu.." She smiles at him weakly. He jumps up to her and tackles her into the ground.

"I thought you were dead do you have any idea how worried I was!" He scolds her as he tightens the hug.

"I was so afraid that I was never going to see you again and I didn't even get to say goodbye." Luca sniffled and Leah just whispers sorry in a croaky voice.

They get up from the floor and wipe their tears before heading back inside.

Everyone from the girls to her parents was in the living room quiet. She walks in and breathes in before she speaks up. "I'm home..." and with that everyone hugs her tight, scold her and just sigh in relief when they see her.

"Mom, dad meet Ash. He took care of me all night. And I can't let him go can we keep him pretty please pretty please." She explains and gives her parents the most cutest puppy dog eyes I've ever seen. Soon enough Luca joins her with his puppy dog eyes. And Ash tilts his head and makes his ears floppy while giving puppy dog eyes. It was honestly an adorable site.

"Alright fine." Her parents caved and everyone cheered. While everyone was celebrating Harley's safe return back home she gave me a glance and walked up to me.

She walks closer until we're face to face. Wrapping her arms around my neck she kisses my cheek catching me off guard. She then stands on her tiptoes to reach my ear. "Thanks for bringing me back home." She whispers and I can feel my heart burst.
