Who's there...

It was quiet, more so then usual, as you sat down at the dining room table.  Setting a plate of eggs and bacon down in front of you your grandma took a seat beside you, smiling as she ate from her own plate.

Simon had since long ago left, saying he needed to finish up a few chores around the place.  You didn't question it, but thought weird of it as he hadn't answered your question.

"Grandma, how did you meet Simon?"

Breaking the silence your grandma looked up over at you, a confused looked painted on her face.  She finished chewing and swallowing before answering you, "I met Simon when I first moved into the house."

Dabbing a napkin onto her lips her brows furrowed, "Why do you ask?"

You shrugged timidly looking down at your lap, your arms folding over your chest as you took in a breath.

"No reason, I was just curious.  Has my mom called...?"

The room returned to silence, both your grandmother and you stood motionless.  The tension growing thicker by the second as she stared at her plate.

"...No.."

Those were the only words to leave her mouth, tears pricked at the edges of your eyes over flowing and spilling rapidly.  Clearing your throat you carefully pushed yourself up out the chair, keeping your head down as to not show your teary face.

"I-I'm gonna go.. find Simon."  Your voice barely above a whisper.

"Okay."  There was a hurt and sadden tone in your grandmother's voice

Running out the back doors you sprinted towards the woods, you let the tall dark shadows ingulf you.  Wrapping around you like a warm embrace, tears ran down your cheeks falling silently to the ground.

As you cried out your breath grew heavier, your legs quickly began to burn and throb in pain while your heartbeat sped up.  Your lungs taking as much oxygen as they could before collapsing back in on themselves.

Pausing you stopped for a few second, regaining your breath and looking around you.

Yup, lost again...

You sighed looking around you, trees, it was all you could see for square feet on and on.  Not a trace of familiarity as you scanned your surroundings.

*SNAP-

In an instance your head flew back looking frantically around for the source of the sound, but finding nothing.

"H-Hello?  Is someone there?!"  You yelled, growing fearful by the second.

There was no response, just the deafening silence of the wind brushing against your face.  Your tears ran dry and your lips pressed into a thin line.

"Who's out there?!"

Again no response was given to your question, but the trees above you began to shake slightly.  The sound of branches creaked and swayed throwing off the suns light.  Blinding you from seeing the source of it all.

There it was again, the sound of a branch snapping.  Gasping you jumped watching as the thin piece of wood fell beside you, landing with a loud smack.

Quivering you yelled into the air, "LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Instantly your hands reached up to cover your mouth, regretting having said that in such a harsh tone...

A/N:  I know it's short, but its because I plan to make the next chapter a little more different.  As well I've read some of the comments, some requesting the reader be a little more how do I say this... age appropriate?  IDK, you'll be behaving a little more older is all.
