A/N: Sooo.. its been a while hasn't it?
Tears clouded your vision and trickled down your cheeks as you sobbed in pain, your small frame sat still on the curb with both arms hugging yourself tightly.
The (f,c) bike you were so fond of lade softly on the grass beside you, its silver tassels blowing lazily in the cool breeze. As you cradled yourself back and forth you listened to the sounds of the cars that zoomed by, the wind drying your tears as they continued to pour out.
"(NAME)?!"
You flinched at the sound of your own name, pulling your legs closer to your chest as footsteps echoed in the back of your mind.
Your own cries blocking out the worried callings of your mother, "What happened to you?!"
Her eyes scanned you from head to toe as she carefully pulled your arms away, bringing you into her warm and loving embrace.
Your tears soaking her blouse as she kept you close to her, rubbing your back soothingly in hopes to calm your raging fallout.
"What happened?" She asked once more.
"I-I-I-I f-fell off m-my bike." You cried louder, hiccupping on your words.
"It's okay, come on. Let's go inside now..."
Her voice was so soft that it was almost whispered, but you managed to hear her pulling yourself up off the ground. Allowing her to wrap her arm around your shoulder and bring you closer to her body.
Glancing down you caught sight of the (f,c) bike, shivering in fear as you hugged your mother tighter. Quietly walking away from the thing and back into your home...
...
For a brief moment all stood silent, the trees having finally stopped swaying and the breeze having calmed.
Deafening silence stood with no intrusion of any sort.
Your eyes blinked away the last few tears that blurred your vision, lips cracking open to exhale a breath that you didn't know you were holding in.
With shaky legs you backed away slowly, your gaze never faulting from the tree lines. The hairs on the back of your neck standing on end, with the burning feeling of being watched.
.
.
."You scraped yourself -and you're bleeding!?"
Her frantic voice was wavering all over the place, as she contemplated whether or not to bath you.
In the end settling on just tending to your injuries...
Carefully disinfecting the scrape and covering it up with a bandaid. Making sure you were okay before the both of you spent the next few hours watching television.
You'd notice the look in your mothers eyes...
Undoubtedly thinking it'd go unnoticed -by the way she feigned a smile on her face.
The ends of her lips curling into an almost believable grin. But there was just that nagging look of exhaustion that reflected off her gaze.
The tiresome bags that hug under the beautiful color of her eyes, and the sickly paleness of her skin.
Her hair was thin and messy, disheveled from the countless times she'd ran her hands through it.
But you let it go...
You didn't dare ask her..
And you'd ignore it..
