I don't remember much after the search party found us, besides Mikey, Colby, myself and a few others that were found were loaded onto an airplane headed home.
I opened my eyes, and I was in a hospital room. The sun was shining, but the room was empty. I looked around. I was hooked up to machines, my cheek hurt, and my ankle had a cast on it now. I looked around for Mikey and Colby, I hoped they were okay.
I was home. I was in my hometown. I can't believe I survived the forest. We survived the forest.
I tried to move but winced in pain. "Oh fuck." I whispered.I soon managed to get up, barley keeping myself up. I wanted to find someone. As I approached the door, a female cop walked in. "Oh you're awake. What are you doing out of bed?" She asked. "Uh.." I looked at her, unsure of what to say. "I was looking for a nurse or something."
My family soon followed after her, I just about fell over. I bursted into tears, rushing into my mom, dad, and brother's arms. "You're finally up!" My mom cried. I cried into my dad's chest, "I thought I-I'd never see you guys again..." I sobbed. We hugged for a good two minutes before my mom helped me back into the bed.
"How are you feelin' squirt?" My brother, Jason asked me. "I'm alright I guess. I'm just glad to be alive." I said. He looked so happy and relieved to see me, and it made me tear up.
"Your ankle is definitely sprained, and you have minor cuts and bruises. Should heal up within the next 2 weeks to a month. They've got you on painkillers for the ankle." Dad explained. I nodded. "A-are Mikey and Colby alright?" I asked. "Yes, they're down the hall, they're going to be just fine." Mom smiled, kissing my forehead.
The female officer pulled a chair up beside the bed. She sat down, she had a notebook. "Okay, Dylan. I just want to ask you some questions, alright?" She asked. "Okay..." I said. She asked me several questions about the crash, expecting me to know every last detail about trains and rails and derailing. She asked about what I experienced. I explained everything. I also showed her all my videos, and photographs, and I also informed her of Colby's recordings on his voice recorder. The videos and photos were of the forest, the plants, things we saw, videos of things and me explaining them, injuries, basically vlogs too.
She kept giving me the looks like she was judging me. I told her everything I knew. I showed her proof. She took my camera and notebook as evidence, and soon left. I guessed she was going to question Colby and Mikey, next.
"What a bitch." I said after she exited the room. "What's her deal?" Jason scoffed. "I was lost in a forest for like a week, and she's treating me like a killer or convict or something. Nice." I shook my head. I leaned back into bed, staring at the ceiling. I was in deep thought.
"You're home. Everything will be okay now.." Mom said, smiling at me. I soon began to fall asleep again, I was very sleep deprived.
