Dear Rick Riordan,

Thank you for whisking me away in every chapter and plot twist.

In class, on long car rides, in the morning and night alike. In a sound library, in a noisy restaurant, a cold winters day, or a summer day on the beach.

Thank you for taking me to a new universe, full of magic and heroes and mythology. Thank you for taking me out of reality, and sparking my imagination. Thank you for the long hours I spent engrossed in your books, finding myself splintered across every page, in every character.

Thank you for inspiring me, for teaching me, for making me fall in love, sentence by sentence, one word at a time.

For taking my mind and plopping it elsewhere. In another state. In another country. In a place called Camp Half-Blood, where normal people problems don't exist.

Thank you for giving me a way to escape my own.

Thank you for all the people I've met, all the art I've seen, all the fan fiction I've read.

Thank you for engaging me with cliffhangers, please don't ever do it again.

Thank you for giving me courage and making me at ease on a summer day, knowing that Camp Half-Blood was just a daydream away.

That I could always reread the books, remeet the characters, get lost inside the covers.

Thank you, Rick Riordan.
