BROOKLYN MILES

I watched Richie steal someone's Tuba and try to play it which was amusing, I think he was just trying to show off now.

I laughed at his attempts and gave Eddie some money for him to get me and the idiot some ice-cream.

I was half listening to the conversation with the gang and watching Richie.

"They say they found a part of his hand, all chewed up near the sandpipe" Stanley said in a shaky tone making me feel bad.

Bill lifted the flier to reveal Betty Ripsom's Missing poster.

"It's like she's been f-forgotten because Corcoran's missing" Bill commented.

I was still watching Richie, he was cheering me up slightly. Finally, the guy tugged it away from Richie's strong grip.

"What the fuck dude?" Richie acted offended before walking back to stand next to me in the group.

Eddie walked back in with the Ice-cream, he handed me one then Richie.

"What are you guys talking bout?" Eddie asked as I licked my strawberry scoop.

"What they always talk about" Richie butted in.

I took a lick of Richie's chocolate ice-cream secretly and he wined about it after. Ben looked up with a hopeful face.

"I think it will end, for a little while at least" Ben said looking to Beverly and Bill.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused as to what he meant.

His face got more serious that before and I continue to lick my ice-cream.

"I was going over all my Derry research and I chatted out all the big events, the Ironworks explosion in 1908, the Bradley gang in '35 and the black spot in '62, now kids being taken.."

"it seems to happen every-"

"Every 27 years" Ben and Bill said at the same time.

Everyone's face seemed to drop, and I looked down in sadness. We started to walk along the sidewalk, I had finished my ice-cream now and Richie had linked arms with me.

We all sat in a circle talking about what we worked out.

"So let me get this straight, IT comes out from wherever to eat kids, for like a year then what, it just hibernates?" Eddie asked summarising it easily.

"Maybe it's like... what do you call it? Cicadas, you know the bugs that come out once every 17 years" Stan said.

"My grandfather thinks this town is cursed-"

"-He says that all the bad happening in this town are because of one thing, an evil thing that feeds off the people of Derry" Mike continued to talk as everyone silenced.

"But it can't be one thing, we all saw something different" Stanley said not agreeing with Mike.

"Maybe, or maybe it knows what scares us most and that's what we see" Mike said slowly.

"But seeing my father wasn't my worst fear though-" I said confused.

"Maybe it just didn't know what I was afraid of..." I was convinced that my theory was right.

"What are you scared of Brooks?" Bill asked tilting his head.

"I'm afraid of drowning" I said bluntly turning away from them.

Richie nodded slowly, he didn't even know what I was scared of, they only knew that I never cried.

"I saw a Leper, he was like a walking infection" Eddie said looking off in the distance.

"But you didn't, because it isn't real, not Eddie's Leper or Bill seeing Georgie or Brooks seeing her dad or the women I keep seeing..." Stanley said looking on the bright side of things.

"She hot?" Richie asked with a smirk, oh I wish I was in reach to punch him.

"No Richie, she's not hot! Her face is all messed up" He exclaimed annoyed as fuck.

"None of this makes any sense" I said my voice softening.

"I think I would know if it wasn't real or not" Mike butted in.

"You saw something too?" Eddie asked interested.

Mike eventually explained what he saw, it was bone chilling, to say the least.

"We're all afraid of something"

"Got that right" Richie said turning to the stage where all the people were dancing and performing.

A single clown faced us directly staring at Richie and me with a wicked smile, gave me the chills.

"Why Rich, what are you afraid of?" I asked genuinely interested in what it was since he found out my fear.

"Clowns"
