Beth's P.O.V.
"What?! NO! SPIDER!" I shout as I throw a my book at a wall and run my fingers through my hair. "YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME!" He cannot be dead. He's not dead. This was not how this was supposed to happen. They were gonna step off the ledge together not have him fall jfc no! Maybe he's alright. People can survive things like that.
I need something to drink. Maybe this is some kind of hallucination. Jem's just imagining things. I try to convince myself. Until I passed a mirror, I didn't realize I was crying. There were tears rolling profusely down my pale face causing streaks of black mascara and eyeliner to run. My light-ash, brown colored curls stuck to the side of my face, the wet parts a darker color than the rest. Not to mention the fact that it was messy and going every which way in tight little corkscrews. I looked like a total disaster, almost worse then after watching The Reichenbach Fall. On the bright side, my eyes are a really pretty, chocolatey brown with a hint of chestnut when I cry.
I walk into the kitchen to get some water. My step-dad's making lunch and my mom and sister look at me with big eyes.
"Good Lord, Beth. What the hell happened with you? Are you okay? Was it a boy? Do I need to hurt someone?" my step-dad asks.
"Oh calm down, Tim," my mom says while turning her wheelchair around to face me. She wheels over and hugs me. "Show or book?" She knows me too well.
"Book," I sniffle. I could practically hear my step-dad roll his eyes.
"Would a grilled cheese make it better?" My step-dad asked sympathetically. I nod and my mom wipes the tears and smeared makeup off of my face before smiling up at me.
"Was it the Numbers book?" Ellie, my sister, asked with a look of horror on her face. She was reading it, too.
"Yeah. Real great ending," I smile at her. "Spi-"
"LALALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALA!" Ellie screams while covering her ears.
"No spoilers, Bethany," my mom scolds. "Ellen, stop screaming. Both of you eat your grilled cheese." Both of us fall quiet and the room is silent except for the grease crackling on the stove and my step-dad setting the plates down on the table.
"Jem is pregnant and Spider dies," I say calmly before taking a bite. Ellie's jaw drops and so does her sandwich.
"I cannOT BELIEVE YOU HOW COULD YOU" Ellie screamed as she jumped up out of her chair.
"I knew what was gonna happen to Augustus in the Fault in Our Stars and I still cried," I shrugged. She would get over it. The room was silent again.
"Are you two ready for school tomorrow? " my step-dad asked. Ellie and I groaned in unison.
"Don't sound so enthusiastic, girls," my mom laughed sarcastically. We all know how excited she would be for us to go back so that she didn't have to deal with us all day.
Kyle's P.O.V.
"That's an S!" Tyler yells to Justin after he misses the hoop by a lot. I mean he is a post but c'mon. 3 pointers are not that hard. "Your turn, Kyle. From wherever you want."
"Dude, dude, dude! Do you have a mini trampoline?" I ask.
"Yeah?" Connor says questioningly.
"Go get it!" I suggest. I have the coolest idea. Connor comes out with the trampoline and sets it about 2 feet from the hoop. I grab the ball and run at the hoop, 1 jump, alley oop, and dunk. My bros are all cheering in the background.
