Chapter 5: Gone

--<-><-><-><->--

He woke earlier than expected. It was 2:30 in the morning, dawn still at its break. Juvia was cuddled up by his side, her breasts pressing into his side.

He was so comfortable - not wanting to get up and just sleep there not going on that job - it was that sweet moment that wouldn't happen again for another months.

Knowing he had to get up sooner or later, he carefully peeled Juvia off of him, she turned on her side right after she was off of him. Gray sat there for a bit watching her chest rise as she took slow breathes - signaling she was still asleep.

He turned carefully, getting a bag from under their dresser and stuffing his not so needed clothes in the black bag. He opened up the top drawer where they kept their possessions, from buttons to trophy's, but what he wanted was a picture.

The photograph consisted of Gray and Juvia, Storm in between them as they shared a smile. Gray remembered vividly the day that very photo was taken. It was a Saturday morning, Lyon and Meredy were over and Gray had asked the two - preferably Meredy - to take a picture for them when their cute baby boy was smiling happily. Meredy took the photo at the right time - said Gray to Juvia - because Juvia and Storm were both smiling cutely, Juvia adoring their son while taking her thumb and caressing it on his cheek. Gray smiled down to the two loves of his life as he grabbed onto Juvia's head lightly.

Gray had told Juvia countless times that she looked very beautiful - and hot - in that photo. Juvia didn't agree, and said Storm was the most beautiful.

Gray smiled down at the photograph - billions of more memories from that day playing in his head - stuffing it in his backpack carefully

Gray didn't want to leave. It was now 3:02, he had been searching for anything else he could take with him on his months trip, but with no luck, there was nothing he could think of to take (except Juvia and his son.)

He stood by the door of his bedroom, staring at Juvia's sleeping face. She was now on her back her hands up laying on the pillow as her head tilted to the side, her cheeks were glowing red, her eyes closed as eyelashes touched the hollows of her eyes in a cute way that made Gray want to wake her up. He knew he couldn't.

After another few minutes, he finally took a few steps to end up by her side leaning down to kiss her cheek softly. She stirred after that, turning to her side as her hand unconsciously touched the cheek where he kissed. As he walked back to the door, he took one last glance before shutting the door quietly.

He sighed and walked to his sons room, cracking the door open just enough to see his son. It hurt Gray to know he wouldn't see him for a while, Juvia too, and just couldn't help but tear up.

He would surely miss his family.

-

He grabbed a snack before heading out of the door - he had already said goodbye to the house - and locked the door to make sure his wife nor child was harmed.

As he walked a generous amount, he looked back for the last time at his house.

Tears rolled down his cheeks.

-

"There that Ice Prick is!" Natsu yelled a little too loud as Gray approached. It was 6 minutes passed their meeting time.

Lucy hit her husbands shoulder. "Luna is around, you know!" she glowered at her husband. "Don't say any bad words around her!"

"Prick isn't such a bad word." Natsu's face scrunched up at his wife before he turned to look at Gray. "Erza was just about to go pound on your door."

Gray didn't talk, he only looked at the ground, holding his bag on his back.

"Natsu, I was just joking. I knew Gray needed some time to say goodbye to everything. If you or Lucy were late, you would be way pass dead." Erza unfolded her arms and looked at Gray as Natsu puffed up "Are you okay?"

"…..yeah." Gray had a frown on his face.

Erza only frowned as well. "Well, how about we go get some breakfast before we leave, eh?"

"YES!" both Luna and Natsu yelled at the same time.

"Wendy'll be a bit late, so we can go." Lucy said as she smiled sweetly, trying to contain her daughter who was jumping in her arms.

-

Juvia shot up as she felt by her side was empty. "Gray?"

She got up, swinging her legs over their bed to place her feet on their cold wooded floor. "Gray?" she called out again.

She opened up her door going out of the room she shared to search for her husband. Usually, Gray would wake Juvia from slumber when he was up to beg her to make him some breakfast. That happened daily.

She opened her baby's door to peer in. Luckily, Storm was still sleeping so she closed the door when she noticed Gray wasn't in their either. She went downstairs next searching the place, but there was still no sign of Gray.

It took Juvia a while, but she got an idea that he could have gone to the guild already. Maybe, just maybe, Gray thought that little break Juvia gave him was a temporary thing. It sounded like a thing the man would do.

So that's where Juvia was headed next.

She had yet to figure out Gray was gone...

- - Question - -

What do you think Gray should've done?

- Tell Juvia where he was going and get a big whooping from Erza (which isn't the greatest and is very scary)?

- Not tell her (like he did) and save her from getting harmed?

- Stay with his wife and child, not causing heartache (from Juvia's side)?
