Me and Edward walked towards the graveyard near the house in silence. We both had nothing to say. I suddenly noticed he was looking at me, so I looked over and he quickly looked away.

"What?" I said.

"Oh... I was just thinking."

"About what?" I asked persistently, a smile playing on my lips.

"Don't worry, it's nothing."

I was about to say something and then we reached Trisha's grave. Edward put the flowers down we'd picked up for her and sat down. I sat next to him, fairly close, and sighed.

"I can't believe she's gone. You should have called me or let me know, Ed. I could've been there for you guys." He smiled appreciatively at me and shook his head.

"We thought quickly. Nothing about this is your fault, Y/n. This is a burden me and Al have to carry."

"For fucks sake, Edward! You don't have to carry it on your own. At least not anymore, since I'm here." I put my hand on his shoulder and he flinched but didn't object. "I'm not leaving you guys again. I'm going to help you get your bodies back, and you can't say anything." He chuckled a little at my enthusiasm and stood up, brushing himself off. I stood up too and he looked down at me. He suddenly burst out laughing.

"What?" I asked, blinking at him.

"You're so short."

"Who are you calling short?" I mimicked him, grinning - I didn't care about being small. He rolled his eyes and we started walking away from the grave.

Edward's POV:

"Y/n, you know the road ahead is a rough one... right? And you still wanna join us?" I said suddenly, looking down. The last thing I wanted was for Y/n to get hurt because of me.

"Ed, I lost you guys once and I'm not losing you again. You guys are like family to me." She looked at me intently with her big e/c eyes. Man, she was cute...

Wait, did I really just think that?

"Edward, you've gone all red." Y/n commented, laughing a little. I looked away and fought down the blush as best as I could.

"Um.... uh..." I stuttered, scratching the back of my head. "Don't worry." She frowned and laughed a little at me again.

"You're such a weirdo, shorty."

"You're one to talk." I said, grinning. It was impossible to get mad if the person trying to call me out was an inch shorter than me.

"Touché." We reached the house and I couldn't help but look again at Y/n. Her h/c hair perfectly framed her perfect face, and here e/c eyes glimmered with hope. I smiled to myself an looked away. Am I... falling for her?

I shouldn't jump to conclusions. I'd only just started getting to know her again... but there was no denying she was beautiful. And funny. And talented. And like no one I'd ever met before.

"What you thinking about, Elric?" Y/n asked, looking at me in confusion.

"Uh... nothing!" I felt my face heat up once again, but I fought the blush down. "Just that it's great to see you again." I confessed, hoping that would stop her asking questions. She opened her mouth to say something.

"Yeah , I-"

Suddenly the phone in the living room started to ring, and Winry came in and answered it.

"Rockbell residence... oh, Y/n? Of course. It's for you." She handed the phone over to Y/n, who looked quite surprised. I listened carefully o the conversation she was having.

"Hello? Oh, Lily, Hi! W-what?" I saw her pupils shrink in their sockets, and she started to shake. I put my hand on her shoulder and she gave me a small smile. "I... ill be there as soon as I can. You're gonna be fine, I promise." She hung up and I watched her fight back tears. "My good friend ran into someone dangerous and got badly hurt... and she wants me back in central for her. I'm gonna have to go , Edward. I can't leave her there." I looked down sadly.

"Y-Yeah, Of course."

"And, of course, I'm gonna find the bastard who hurt her." My eyes widened.

"You have another thing coming if you think you're gonna go off on your own, Y/n." She looked up at me.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean we're leaving Alphonse here and we're both going. Don't 'cha need some fighting backup?" I smirked at her and she rolled her eyes.

"Getting cocky?" She chuckled and I felt her calm down. "It'd be great to have some company, if it's not too much trouble. I'm really worried... and, of course, she's completely innocent. If there's someone out there killing people I need to get them." I nodded in agreement.

"Definitely." I smiled to myself. "Some break this was, huh?" We both laughed and Y/n but her arms on my shoulders.

"I'm so glad I ran into you guys again." She told me. For the millionth time that day, I felt my cheeks heat up. "Thanks for cheering me up, Ed."

"I-it's no problem. I'm glad I- we - ran into you too." She removed her hands from my shoulder and sat down on a sofa, yawning. She patted the seat next to her and I walked over, sitting beside her.

"We leave first thing tomorrow... I'm exhausted." She admitted.

"Done." I replied immediately. Suddenly I felt a weight on my shoulder and I looked down to see Y/n, fast asleep. I smiled at her. She was so cute when she was-

I need to stop thinking about her that way.

"Weirdo..." I whispered to myself, mentally slapping myself. The first priority was getting Al and I's bodies back. Then... maybe...

Maybe I could think about her in that way then.

I sighed heavily. How on earth was I meant to keep that mindset if she was travelling with us?
