Beast of the Hunt

Chapter 5

Fraeth 13th Guhnai, 3£205
When everything became but utter darkness clara had lit a torch so we could see we kept walking. While we kept walking i was looking around the cave looked like it could collapse any minute this shook me some because the thought of it all collapsing and crushing us just sucked. We kept walking till we reached a dead end we look at each other puzzled then i looked back at the dead end while clara doubled back looking for a another way through the cave.

Clara: "this doesnt make any sense, did they send us here for no reason or to waste my time."

At this point Clara was fuming but i stood still observing the dead end till i notice a small gap in the rock structure of the wall big enough for either of us to fit our hand in.

Maxen: "hey clara, come her real quick" she looked at me annoyed and walked towards me

Clara: "what are you gonna tell me to calm down or be quiet"

Maxen: "no actually i was wanting to see your torch"

Clara: "oh my bad sorry im just annoyed and kinda pissed off"

She handed me her torch and i brought it close to the gap in the wall an noticed a lever. I pulled the lever and sounds of rocks moving started erupting.

Clara: "The hell did you just do. You dont even know if that could've been a trap"

I looked at her for a moment an pointed to a wall to the left of clara she looked confused at first till she finally looked in the direction i was pointing.

Clara: "oh again my bad an i am so sorry"

She says as she laughs some putting her hand on the back of her head. I stepped through the entrance that the lever had revealed first, clara followed suite as well only to see a tunnel leading farther into the cave. We kept following the tunnel till we started hearing voices clara put out the torch as there was some light emitting through the tunnel notifying us that we were near wherever the voices were coming from.

Clara: "Whats going on here" she then looks at Maxen with confusion an back towards the tunnel

Maxen: " I dont know, but were about to find out" after i said this i started walking farther down the tunnel until we could hear them clearly when we could we knelt down to listen in some.

???: "So what about the store keeper, i heard that he was blabbing his mouth to an outsider who had just arrived. To whom the outsider offered to help

???: "Well.."

The mysterious person who we could make out had a raspy voice sounding like an older man while the other sounded younger. He took a pause though before speaking again.

???: "Well.. I guess he shall be the next target"

Hearing this made me clench my fist in anger. I felt all my anger and rage boil up inside me and i was ready to let it all out. I hadn't noticed that Clara was looking at me while i was going through those sudden emotions. As i went to get up and head towards the two mean Clara put her hand on my shoulder, looking at her still enraged she looked at me deeply an began to talk.

Clara: "Listen i know hearing that will make you mad because you feel for that man, but we cant just rush in there blind full of anger. Thats how we lose our heads, just take a deep breath and calm down"

I looked at her for a moment shocked by what she said but i decided to take her advice.

Maxen: "Well whats the plan then because im ready to go in there and show them how it feels to be scared like all the people of the village are feeling."

Clara: "I know you want to do that but give me a second to think on what we could do."

We stayed still for a moment then we heard the two men speak again

???: "Someones coming"

We heard one of the men start walking then he stood still we waited for a moment then we heard more foot steps. One of them then spoke up to which it sounded like a woman.

???: "Ah Awdin nice to see you again hopefully i have come at a good time, unlike last time if i may recall"

We could now put a name with the older sounding man

Awdin: "No need to recall i am fully aware of the events that had transpired last time we had met. But yes you have come at a good time."

The younger sounding man from before had then spoke up

???: "What is it you need my lady?"

???: "I am growing hungry and seeing as i shouldnt have to go out and get my own food i have come to you. Do you have anything at this moment Biorgn?"

Biorgn: "As of right now no but.."

The woman had cut him off before he could finish his sentence

???: "But what your groups to lazy to even capture anyone"

Biorgn: "No ma'am we were trying to lay low at the moment before anyone fully caught on or noticed us"

???: "Ah i see very well i would like to have a meal though before the sun sets"

Knowing that before we came here we slept till mid day they didnt have much time so we needed to make a move and fast.

Maxen: "Any ideas Clara?"

Clara: "Actually i think i might but im not sure if youd like it or if you'd like it too much."

Maxen: "Ok. Well lets hear it then"

Clara pondered on how to explain it best but when she did she went straight to the point.

Clara: "Ok heres what we can do, im gonna find a vantage point from this way.." she pointed to another tunnel to the right of us. "Then when i do ill give you a signal which will be an arrow in the foot of one of them then you charge them two on four wont be easy but im sure we can do this"

I thought about it still thinking if it'd be a good idea then i though of the store owner an how they have all affect his life an that thought just made my choice for me.

Maxen: "Ok but when i charge at them im not gonna stop"

Clara looked at me for a moment then without saying anything she went towards the tunnel an i kept listening to the four

???: "So you say this store keeper wont keep his mouth quiet to random travelers keeping people from staying around?"

Awdin: "Yes, he had talked to a new commoner traveling through. Although ive also heard that he had wandered away from the village"

At that we heard the other persons voice

???: "So you're saying you heard that he had left are you sure of that, is this source reliable."

From that were learned it was a man his voice was distinctive from the others like it was deeper than the both of them.

Biorgn: "yes we are sure and yes the source is also reliable he is one that is in on what all is going on here and what will happen with the store keeper"

???: "ok"

After that the footsteps of the two who we had no face or name for began walking away a few more moments past before i started to wonder when clara was going to give the signal.

Maxen: "Clara hurry up already" i mumbled that but its just like she read my mind because i heard her yell an then a cry of pain from one of the men.
