Coffee, Tea, and Rain

She'll be here soon.. right?
Headphones sat silently at the table of the coffee shop she was in, adjusting her pink sweater collar. Npacer and her had agreed on a date here. They had been dating for about a week now and still headphones was a nervous wreck around her. Npacer was just so calm, and collected, while she was always an anxious mess.

Npacer was now late, and the long blue haired inkling was growing more worried that she had just abandoned her or forgot. She sighed, realizing she needed to calm down. Headphones grabbed her squidphone connected to her wireless headphones and began playing some music from the squid sisters to calm her down. She closed her eyes, tapping her shoe at the beat. Time seemed to slow down until suddenly a tap on her shoulder brought her back to reality. A yellow haired inkling with her tentacles tied neatly in a short ponytail was smiling apologetically, sitting at her table. Headphones hurriedly paused her music, as she grinned at the female in front of her, heart fluttering.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late. My team was making sure I looked nice." She seemed to pause slightly as she sat down across from her. "...not that it matters but.. how, do I look?" Headphones glanced at her attire. A white Long sleeved shirt with two roses printed on it, along with some simple black pants. She had a silver necklace with a pink gem in the center wrapped around her neck. She felt her cheeks heating up and quickly gave a thumbs up. "Y-Ya look great!" She stuttered, silently yelling at herself for doing so. Npacer only laughed, and oh cod was it adorable. "Your so dorky headphones." She murmured, causing the blue haired inkling to just blush all over again.

The waiter came and the two ordered, chatting about their day. Headphones did most of the ramblings while Npacer listened. She preferred just listening to her adorable girlfriend ramble about the shenanigans her and team blue got up to as she sipped the tea she ordered. She found it odd tea was on the menu of a coffee shop but she didn't care non the less. Headphones eyes drifted towards a clock on the wall, her eyes widening. "Cod it's already 7:30?!" Npacer looked at the wall and sure enough it was a little past 7:30. She didn't realize how long they had been here. Npacer held out a hand as headphones began pulling out her wallet. "No no it's alright, let me pay." Headphones looked like she was going to argue but the yellow haired inkling cut her off. "I insist." Headphones sighed. "Fine. You win, ma lady." She teased, and Npacer only chuckled. They payed for their drinks and opened the door, only to find it pouring down raining. "Huh. Guess the chatter of the shop blocked that out?" The empress murmured. Headphones sighed. "So how are you getting home?" She asked her girlfriend. Npacer grabbed an object she left outside by the bike rack attached to the wall. "I brought an umbrella just in case. How about you?" Headphones silently scolded herself for not checking the weather before shrugging nervously. "I'll just walk through it-" Npacer quickly opened the umbrella and wrapped an arm tightly around headphones, who froze up at the sudden contact. "Nonsense. If it was drizzling I might allow that, but it's pouring. You know what happens to inklings in water." Headphones sighed and nodded, remembering when her team had to bandage up specs when he came home through a storm when he forgot his umbrella. Luckily respawn pads were common in Inkopolis or else rain would of probably killed off everyone by now.

"But s-still, you shouldn't have to walk me all the way to my home. It's a good distance from here." Npacer seemed to think to herself before putting a hand softly on the side of headphones face, turning her gaze towards hers as she lightly kissed the inkling on the lips. Headphones wished it lasted longer as she pulled away with a smirk. "Ok, then we'll go to my place."

Headphones quickly shook her head, still extremely flustered. "I couldn't.. I wouldn't wanna intrude on emperor, prince, and Edg-" Npacer quickly cut her off again. Headphones would of been frustrated at this habit, if her girlfriend wasn't so cod dang cute whenever she did so, and since typically she only cut people off to argue a good point. "The rest of my team aren't home. It'll just be you and me. We can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie or something." Headphones only nodded, not aware if she was a blushing mess right now or not as Npacer held her close, since the umbrella was kinda small. They walked through Inkopolis together, the rain dropping onto the ground. Headphones paused once they arrived at the apartment. It was fancier looking then the one she shared with team blue.

"Ack"
Headphones turned around to see Npacer bleeding slightly, her leg lifted up over a puddle she accidentally stepped in. "Oh gosh, let's get inside." Headphones murmured, letting her girlfriend move to unlock the door. Entering the hallway in front of them, the two girls slipped off their shoes, Npacer putting her umbrella down in a nearby closet as she limped slightly to the couch. "Hey, headphones, can you get the bandaids? They're in the closet by the kitchen." She nodded, rushing towards a room she was 99.9 percent sure was the kitchen, since it had a fridge oven and sink, as well as cabinets. Opening the closet, headphones grabbed a few bandaids before walking towards the living room.

The apartment was nice and tidy, everything seemingly organized. Headphones prayed she didn't ruin anything while she stayed. The blue haired inkling sat next to Npacer, who was checking her phone. "Ugh, looks like it's supposed to rain till tomorrow. Supposed to thunder tonight as well." She turned to face headphones, her golden eyes having their usual calm look. "Looks like you'll just have to stay the night." Headphones handed her the bandaids and nervously laughed. "Oh no, I couldn't possibly. That would be intruding. Besides, emperor might not want me here when he's back, team blue will probably be worried, and I can just text them to come over with an umbrella-"

While she was rambling, headphones didn't see Npacer pick up her phone and dial a number.
"And I might ruin how clean the house is by accident, and where would I even sleep, I don't have my pajamas, and-"

"Hey, specs right?"

Headphones froze as she realized Npacer was calling her teams leader.
"PACER WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
"Checked the forecast. It's supposed to rain all night long, so I was wondering if headphones could just stay the night. Yeah emperor won't mind. Alright cool. Don't worry. Yeah, bye." Hanging up, Npacer threw a smile at her girlfriend. "Your teams fine with it. And about emperor, he won't be back till later. He and prince are bringing edging with them to visit their sister pearl. And it won't be intruding because I want you here." Npacer wrapped an arm around her, and using her free hand, grabbed headphones's hand and gave it a small squeeze. "You worry to much. Just relax, ok? It's just us princess." Headphones gave a confused smile. "Princess? That's a new nickname. Where'd that one come from?" Npacer shrugged. "Cus I'm your knight, and your my princess~" headphones buried her face in her hands. "Oh my cod pacer." Npacer chuckled "So you staying the night?"The inkling sighed, giving in and nodding. "Good." Npacer grinned. "Oh, and also, you look adorable in that sweater. Pink suits ya." After that statement, Npacer lightly kissed headphone's cheek, watching her heat up to a blush. She loved making headphones blush, as she was always so adorable when she did so. The two just watched a movie together, cuddling under a blanket. Eventually, the stars were out, with rain pattering against the windows. Npacer looked to the side to see headphones asleep. Sighing with a smile she gently removed her girlfriend's headphones, and sat them on the table in front of them. Picking her up bridal style, she carried the sleeping girl into her room and tucked her under the covers, crawling in next to her and closing her eyes.

It was around 2 am when Npacer woke up. She had a bad habit of waking up late at night. Her throat felt especially dry. Groaning, she inched out of bed, moving to the hallway. But she froze when she saw eging jr and prince standing outside their door. Prince looked pretty tired and eging had his arms crossed. "Your girlfriends in your room isn't she?" The inkling asked with a smug looked. Npacer chuckled nervously. "Of course not-"
"We saw the extra shoes Npacer."
The empress groaned. "Don't tell Emperor." She mumbled, moving to the kitchen and putting a cup under the faucet. Eging chuckled, shaking his head. "Wouldn't dream of it. Now come on prince." Npacer raised an eyebrow in their direction after chugging the glass, and placing it in the dishwasher. "Why are you two up so late anyway?" Prince yawned. "I had a nightmare and eging's the only one who doesn't sleep so heavily. But we heard your door opening." The empress shot their youngest teammate a sympathetic glance, moving back towards her room and patting his shoulder. "Night you two."
"Night lovebird-"
"Shut up."

Npacer went to her own room, as she climbed in bed besides headphones. Staring at the sleeping beauty inches away from her face made the empress blush slightly, as she wrapped her arms around the team blue sniper, and pulled her closer, nuzzling her face into the crook of her neck. "Night headphones.." she murmured, knowing she wouldn't get a response as she drifted to sleep.

Author note: hey! So this is the first oneshot. Sorry it's kinda long, the other ones will be shorter. I might make a part 2 of this one, or another oneshot based off an idea I didn't have enough space to add because I'm writing this late at night and this thing is long enough. Anyway cya guys have a great day/night
