Cal's POV

"Oh, good lord..." It escapes my lips just as I walk through the doors of this excuse school. It looks like hell. It looks like hell.

This is the best she could choose. Damn.

I look at the students; they look like they're walking into a club instead of a school. It's pathetic.

Well, you lose some to get some. I walk towards the hall to find the principal's office. At least I think that's what we're supposed to do. I go to the help desk and ask them for the principal. It took a long process and made me wait quite a while. It was like I was meeting up with the president or something.

Every time I ask them how much longer, I get the same reply. "He's busy at the moment."

Do they think I'm an idiot? Really, that's what they consider they're students to be? I can clearly see him through the glass doors of his office, enjoying a cup of coffee and on his phone, typing away. He has a smirk on his face and there's a weird look in his eyes. It can't be his wife. I assume she's the one who left a bag in his room -which I guess was his lunch- just before he picked up his phone that led to this moment. It makes me think if he's talking to a mistress. It has to be.

I pity his wife.

A guy enters his room again -the same one who's already been there 5 other times- to tells him that I'm waiting. I watch as he finally stands up and walks towards the other side of the room and picks up my file. I watch him.

His office is spick clean. No crap. He has a rigid posture as he walks, hair combed back with an access amount of gel, or most probably oil. He has an expensive watch. No way he's gonna afford that with a job in the education sector. Then I look at his neat, crisply ironed shirt. He doesn't have glasses or contacts. He has perfect vision, odd for his age. I eyes trail over his far-from-skinny tie, it's so thick that I'm surprised it doesn't suffocate him. He looks like a fully disciplined soldier. I bet anything and tell you that he went to army school.

His eyes light up as he reads my file and immediately asks the guy to call me in. The guy comes and asks me to enter the office, so I do. As soon as I walk in, the principal has repositioned himself on his chair.

He welcomes me in and says "So, you are the new student coming from... where was it-?"

"Little Falls, Minnesota"

"Right, USA." He said, putting emphasis on the country name. I nod. "Good." He stretches it out making it sound creepy.

The next 15 minutes consist of him ranting on about the school. He says a lot but from what I've seen I doubt that it's true. He asks me if I want to be shown around the school.

Oh god no. Please just get me out of here!

I nod. Don't blame me; I need to do something to build up my good boy credits. He calls in some girl named Sirena.

Great, he just had to stick me in with a girl.

I listen to him rambling on for 5 more minutes before a girl -whom I assume to be Sirena- asks permission to come in.

I hear her coming to a stop just behind my seat. I don't look at her. I'm here for just to do one thing and I really don't care whatever happens in between that.

The principal asks her to give me a tour, and I don't hear her say anything, but I think she nodded though because the principal ends it by saying- "Good, now you can leave while the assembly is still going on, I hope it'll be enough to show him around. If not, you can take homeroom. You're dismissed. Enjoy your first day."

First day, huh? No comments on the rest of the entire school year at all? Damn, even he has no expectations...

The girl thanks him and leaves. Looks like someone doesn't care either. Maybe I don't need to be as worried as I thought I might for any distractions, no one here cares anyway. It's just my cocky side talking...

I thank the principal too, to which he just nods, and then I walk out, trying to keep up with the girl. She was fast and now I could look at her from the back. She had her brown hair in a messy ponytail and she had one hand in the back pocket of her uniform skirt, the other one just at her side. Her school shoes are making her footsteps extra loud in the quiet hallway. I think she doesn't hear me yet.

"So, Hey!" I say, trying to get her attention.

She jumps at that and turns to me, then I notice her face. She's pretty. Her brown eyes look surprised and she is biting her lips that are already cut and look more chewed up than a dog toy. I guess I scared her.

She looks surely less than ideal but still, I find some kind of attractiveness in her face, especially her expression makes her look really cute. And then she suddenly just started looking everywhere else but my face.

"What's wrong?" I ask innocently.

She doesn't bother replying.

"Are you alright?" I attempt again. Now she's looking at my wrist.

"Watches aren't allowed in school," she says. That's what's bothering her? That I have a watch on?

"Oh, I didn't know, sorry," I say with a smile while I take off my watch and put it in my bag.

Then her expression suddenly changes. She starts smiling and looks as if nothing just happened. "Hey, sorry about that." She says. "My name's Searena, spelled with an 's-e-a' instead of 's-i'. Weird, I know. But you can call me Sea." She gives me a proper introduction. She's definitely cute. She seems like a good girl type. This whole crap school work thing might not be so bad after all.

"I think it's cool, I'm Cal, new guy," I say attempting to be funny. If I'm gonna be here, I at least need to get something out of it. I don't think it works though, she looks confused. God damn my non-existent sense of humor, seriously!

"Wasn't your name Daniel, like 5 minutes ago?" she asks. I just notice, her voice is kinda echoing from the walls, otherwise, it is really slow and soft. It's a change from the other girls I've heard around here, I think she's not one to talk much.

"Well yeah, that's my first name, but my middle name is Calibur so everyone just calls me Cal," I explain my nickname, which I haven't done to a lot of people. Usually, I just tell them my name is Cal and they just roll with it. But her asking means that she doesn't entirely not-care. "So, you gonna show me around or what?" I ask. I really might not want this tour, and she really might not wanna give it to me, but hey, sometimes you just have to do stuff that you don't want to.

She just nods and continues walking. I follow.

We go through the rundown and end up in the class. I try to make some kind of casual conversation, but it doesn't go well. She's not interested to meet new people. Can't blame her, I wouldn't wanna socialize at a school like this either.

I hear a loud noise outside. It sounds like someone fell or something, there are people yelling.

"Whoa! Sounds like something bad happened." I say. Maybe someone decided to strike before the go-ahead.

"Yeah, our class happened." She says. No way. Why, god!

I choose a seat and in comes the wave of people, talking - no scratch that - yelling, pushing, pulling, hitting. They're followed by the teacher. He starts teaching without even giving a damn if people are listening. They call this a school, really?

Some girl asks to come in the class and just walks in despite the fact that the teacher didn't even respond. She's followed by a guy; a tall,

dark, not-so-hard-to-solve mystery. He scowls at me and then moves to the back.

The other girl is taking notes. Sea's doing something in her notebook.

Well, I'm here, might as well give a crap.
